WATCH OUT!!! :help:

Your in the LINE OF FIRE for a BRAND NEW SIN TAX!!!

For those of us who either smoke or drink (or both) -- we're already USED to getting FUCKED OVER by our government (A HUGE tobacco increase will become effective 4/1/09 to pay for children's healthcare) -- but NOW...

BROUGHT TO YOU by the STATE OF UTAH...

http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=148&sid=5829408

They are studying the POSSIBILITY of applying the SAME PRINCIPLE to CAFFEINATED beverages...

WHAT IS THIS WORLD coming to...

:confused::confused::confused:

(see Transpogue -- I'm not ALWAYS optimistic... ;))

And all this time I thought I was a coffee achiever. Now I'm a coffee sinner?

Fucking great!

I start my day with a smoke and my java. Then have a Coke with my breakfast. #-o

Nice to see that all of my vices are meant to support the rest of the civilized world!

Next thing I guess I will see is a 'sin tax' on lube, so I can continue to support everyone with my love of gay sex! ](*,)

I thought the tobacco tax already increased here in California, happened two days ago.

..

$6.02 for a fucking pack of Camels. My god. If it goes up anymore...

Chicago's had that for a while. It's an entertainment tax or something like that. Throw an extra 2-3% on top of the already anal-tearing sales tax for a red bull.

I pay $30 for a carton of Camels here. When I was in New Jersey in 2004, they wanted $6 for a pack then! God, I need to quit!

That was probably a state tax increase...

The FEDERAL one is DEFINITELY on 4/1/09...

At $6/pack -- I'd DEFINITELY be looking into either quitting or getting one of those cigarette machines and make your own...

ALTHOUGH -- according to THIS WEBSITE
http://careysmokeshop.stores.yahoo.net/basickit.html (it SHOULD BE the closest to Camel's that I could find) says they'll be TRIPLING the price for the tobacco -- JUST BECAUSE of the increase...

Oh -- and GMO -- I'm GLAD that I'm not the ONLY one that likes a Diet Coke with Breakfast!!!

:):):)

When cigarettes started becoming crazy expensize here, I decided to quit. Best idea ever!!!

The coffee/soda thing is a bit excessive, but states need income, and those are not necessities...

even though, I LOVES me some coffee! :luv:

I've resolved to quit after I run through these packs that I have. I'm too poor to afford it, and if it's going up again with a federal increase, nows a better time than any. I have to have surgery on my nose to correct a severely deviated septum, and for that I have to be clean of cigarettes for two weeks; all the more reason for me to quit now.

^ What he said.

Remember that it is everybody's tax bill that goes to pay for the effects of smoking on health.

Sorry. No pity here.

As a libertarian, it's hard for me to say this. But, why not?

Why should alcohol and tobacco always get the increasingly onerous tax burden?

Why shouldn't fizzy, unhealthy drinks and junk food pay into the system too?

Their consumption causes billions of dollars in health costs and adds untold tons of weight to Americans.

Seriously, tax other "harmful" things. Shouldn't always be alcohol and tobacco.....

Are you people fucking serious?? Even with exchange rates being in the toilet - AUD to US$$$) you're paying about half what I am paying. A carton of Dunhill Blue in Australia is anywhere from $90 to $98 depending where you buy them.

I know. When I quit smoking 2 years ago, a package of cigarettes was about $8 and a carton was almost $60. I'm sure they've gone up since then. I should stop in and check prices just so see what they going rate is these days.

If they really wanted to do something useful, they'd start taxing the plastic bottles and paper cups the stuff comes in.
