forgotten cartoon characters

I've always loved cartoons but it took time for me to learn the various animation studios and their characters.

When it comes to Terrytoons, their best known character is Mighty Mouse.
But if you go back to the 1940's Terrytoons' most popular character was Gandy Goose.

And like "Martin & Lewis" or "Laurel & Hardy", Terrytoons had a real hit when Gandy Goose was paired with Sourpuss.

i can name a few . Marine Boy, Klondike Kat . Astro Boy, Simba the White Lion , Young Frankenstein , Arabian Knights, Star Blazes, Johnny Quest, G-Force(Battle of the Planets) Space Ghost,Woody Woodpecker. Chilly Willy (Penguin). Just a few of my favorites.

Tennessee Tuxedo and his pal. Chumley!
Tennessee Tuxedo's voice was comic Don Adams! (Maxwell Smart)

Every cartoon series has that one special episode that marks a special moment for the entire show.

From 1964, Tennessee and Chumley team up with Baldy the Eagle to form a singing group, just like Peter, Paul & Mary. (Baldy becomes Mary)
The song is, "Abra Kadabra", and it became the most popular song in my school that year. Drove teachers crazy with this song!!!

There are a lot of cartoons I remember. Because I hated them.

So I'm not walking down that memory lane. I know most other little gay boys had a crush on Dr. Race Bannon from Jonny Quest. Although I can understand that today, it was beyond little me.

I used to root for Mighty Mouse to lose a fight. Those cartoons were too predictable.

When it comes to old cartoons, I'm just a Big Kid.

From 1966 - I couldn't get enough of Buzz Conroy and Frankenstein Jr.

YES!!! - This morning I was thinking about Hanna-Barbera in the years after Scooby Doo in 1969.

The entertainment industry is relentless. Scooby Doo was a monster hit for H-B, but broadcasters are only interested in what you have next! What's the next Scooby Doo?
But yourself in H-B's place. By 1972 the pressure was on for another big hit and in true H-B tradition they tried everything.

Speed Buggy - 1973 came along just in time because broadcasters were worried about "Scooby Doo fatigue", even though all H-B cartoons follow a similar formula.

Another Hanna-Barbera cartoon that hit in 1973 was a cartoon version of I Dream of Jeannie, simply called, "Jeannie".
The intro is interesting because it features Mark Hamill doing the voiceover and Mark is the voice for the main character, Corey.
