The News Article

Hueytown - Hueytown Police say they arrested a suspect for Saturday's quadruple murder. Scott Lamar Abbott now faces capital murder charges.

The murder happened early Saturday morning on Woodland Drive, off of High School Road. Two men and two women were found dead in a home. Hueytown police identified the victims on Sunday as:

William Chad Gilbert, 31-years-old
Jeri Lynn Cole, 27-years-old
Nika Sandlin, 24-years-old
Joshua Gilleo, 26-years-old

Investigators now say the victims were stabbed to death by the 24-year-old Abbott. Police believe at least one person was able to fight back and injured the 6'7" Abbott. He showed up at a Gadsden hospital with stab wounds. Doctors got suspicious and called Gadsden police officers. They contacted Hueytown and Abbott was taken into custody Saturday.

Hueytown Police Chief, Chuck Hagler, says it was a violent slaying.

"It was a traumatic scene. It was one of the worst crime scenes I've seen in 20 years," says Chief Hagler.

Neighbors say they were shocked by the crime and didn't know anything happened until later in the morning.

"I slept soundly this morning. Everything seemed fine until the place was canvassed with police officers," says David Vincent, neighbor.

Police believe the murders may have been related to a past relationship. Chief Hagler says he is confident Abbott is the only suspect and this is an isolated incident.

Scott Abbott now faces four counts of capital murder when he is formally charged this week

Updated on March 9: Scott Lamar Abbott, 24, was charged with 4 counts of capital murder. Abbott was arrested and detained. Abbott has no bond conditions allowed.

Abbott was accused of having stabbed and slashed 2 women and 2 men while they were sleeping in their home. The dead were Nika Sandlin, 24, Jeri Cole, 27, William Gilbert, 31, and Joshua Gilleo, 26.

Abbott allegedly committed 4 murders single-handedly. Police suspected Abbott was the jilted boyfriend of one of the two women who was killed.

I have an ethics question for all of you: Do you think the website should remove the video of this guy? Does "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" matter?

As an adult webmaster, I've fortunately not had to make such a decision. But, the topic was being discussed on another web forum relating to other models convicted of heinous crimes. Personally, I think both sides have valid arguments. Any thoughts?

Well let me start off like this, I am also a webmaster and I'm like you (thackftl) should his content be removed? 50/50 i guess SS will get traffic this way, but wouldnt u want to get traffic cause you got hot guys or cause you got a MURDER on your site? its kills the fantasy?

I know i shouldnt pass judgement but its alot of evidence against him....

What would you do?

This is a big warning to all adult companies really watch who you work with, cause you never know what your getting yourself into... I suggest companies should do a verbal interview... instead of just wanting to see pictures...

IMO I wouldnt want it on my site...(MURDER[-X) anything else i might have to look the other way...;)

I guess that may add to his appeal for whomever ever found him attractive...

I guess he isn't that perfect angel people on JUB usually think porn "stars" are.

He is innocent til proven guilty however.

PS: How do people even find out about porn star murders and deaths?

Could the video be removed while the case is being heard and then replaced if found innocent? (Without explanation of why it was removed since he should be considered innocent unless/until proven otherwise.) Seems like that might help with both the concerns.

And, as one who has had a family member killed by violent crime, I am in no way "feeling" for him if he is guilty...just responding to the question. Honestly, if he did do this I hope they throw the book at him. (Sorry for the cliche.)

The murderer has impacted so many lives...permanently...

This is really kind of chilling. It sounds like there is a lot of evidence against him. What can possibly make someone generate that much rage?

I'm still trying to figure out how he managed to kill four people (two of them grown men) by himself. I mean, if he had a gun, no problem, but the articles say they were stabbed to death. Couldn't 3 of them have overpowered him?

Not saying he didn't work alone, but I can't figure out how one person with a knife was able to stab four people to death in the same house.

Does anyone follow me?

I have only read what is posted here, but I think that is a good question. Maybe if they weren't all in the same/nearby rooms...but, yes...very interesting point.

Hey,
i read that he entered the house while they were asleep in separate bedrooms. he had a falling out with his girlfriend and she asked him to leave.

police said he went from room to room and killed each one...he must have been tweeking or something....

I have been thinking the exact same thing. I mean when I read the articles it sounded like it was very "horrific" and brutal. How did he do it without anyone escaping the house. I also read that at least of them fought back. The only thing I can think is that he was so full of rage and out of his mind.

I think it is an interesting question. When I got my Master's in Business, I had to take an ethics course where we talked about things like this. Not porn, of course, but similar ethical situations.

That course was an eye-opener for me. I was in a Business Leadership program, but that course was also required for the MBA students. The students in my program (which had a sociology focus) consistently disagreed with the MBA students, who seemed to place profit over ethics. Their argument was that if it wasn't illegal, there wasn't a problem.

[For the record, I'm not saying anyone with a MBA places profit over ethics. I'm just going by my experience at my school. But, I think considering the furor over AIG bonues, I think unethical (but not illegal) behavior is rampant in many corporations. I certainly witnessed it first hand when I worked at Disney.]

that is the big question...i guess it will come out in the trial.

Yeah, this case occurred very close to where I live currently. It's actually a suburb of Birmingham where that murder occurred, and yeah it is very bizarre. However, quite a number of people around Birmingham suspect this guy didn't have a lover's spat with his "girlfriend" rather one of the guys.

However, it is a horrible case nevertheless.
