The massacre at Ft Hood was perpetrated by Nidal Malik Hasan, Army psychiatrist AND devout Muslim

I cannot believe the Army did not remove him when it was clear that he anti-American and he had praised Islamic suicide bombers. Hasan is now a hero to his Islamic terrorists "brothers"

Yet no one seems to want to mention this small fact

Pathetic

Sen. Joe Lieberman called the Fort Hood massacre an act of "Islamist extremism" - even as top Army brass warned Sunday against guessing at a motive, fearing backlash against Muslim soldiers.
"There are very, very strong warning signs here that Dr. Hasan had become an Islamist extremist and, therefore, that this was a terrorist act," Lieberman (I-Conn) told Fox News on Sunday.
"If the reports that we're receiving of various statements he made, acts he took are valid, he had turned to Islamist extremism."
Lieberman, the former Democratic vice presidential candidate, chairs the Senate Homeland Security committee.
Nidal Malik Hasan, the Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people and wounding 30 more on Thursday, reportedly expressed moral concerns about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Lieberman has no facts about the case; he isn't qualified to speak to it until the facts come out. Just because it seems obviously one thing doesn't mean it is.

I think of it more as lower standards in a time of war when people are needed all around in the military, than political correctness. This is just the most recent and one of the most horrible examples of someone who should not be in the military being allowed and possibly forced to stay because how much the military needs people. Also of it that shouldn't matter if they need people, standards are there for a reason.

This ABC link is claiming that U.S. officials knew he was trying to contact al qaeda months ago.If true, this is pretty screwed up.Obama needs to stop coddling Muslims, and tell them to speak up against these kind of attacks.

The question then is why aren't our intel people passing along the information? Isn't that why we made a Homeland Security department, so this compartmentalizing that leads to disaster wouldn't happen again?

But wait -- who's in charge of Homeland Security?
In the Senate, that would be.... Joe Lieberman.

Hmm.

The intel people are too busy wiretapping everyone else in America and following up on what books they are checking out of the library to check up on what their own troops are doing.

He chairs the Senate Homeland Security committee. He's got access to facts we have no clue about.

He is currently the chair of the Homeland Security committee, but he may not be for long.

Try reading the articles posted -- you'll find you're wrong. The intel people did in fact know. That's one of the disturbing aspects of the situation.

I was wondering if he's making noise to head off questions whether he should have known. I don't think it's a committee chair's job to know everything like that, but it does raise questions about whether Homeland Security is really a department, or just a propaganda piece.

This is just Lieberman, like some Republicans attempting to make political hay from a tragedy. People regularly kill their children, their neighbors or fellow bus riders and claim "God made me do it!" Certainly the abortion Doctor killers claim that they committed murder for Jesus. Do we call them Christian Terrorists? Jesus Terrorists? No; we simply call them paranoid schizophrenics and that will probably prove to be an apt description of Major Hasan.

not sure anyone wants to may "hay" rather not to be blinded by political correctness which is at an all time high

i blame the army for their heads in the sand

this guy sent out all kinds of signals that he was dangerous

and for whatever reason - incompetence, political correctness or both

they did not deal with it

and people r dead and maimed - and they and their families lives r changed forever

frankly Iman, and i do say this will all due respect and i don't say that as a throwaway line

i think ur post here is a typical example of PC at its worst

christian terrorists?

i think ur head is in the sand

ur not the only one

Joe Lieberman has vested interests in emphasizing that he is an Islamic extremist. Does it really matter what religion someone is when they commit a crime? That's what this is: a crime! I can't stand when they start calling something terrorism. You can't fight fear. You can fight crime. And if someone commits a crime because they have nutty religious views, it's still a crime. But I feel that the neocons try to legitimize these religious views as part of the crime because they have their own nutty religious views and it seems like they really want a us vs. them type holy war. Just ignore the religion and react to the crime, IMO. BTW, I don't recall anyone calling Adolf Hitler a Christian extremist.

If they'd been known to have contacts with 'Christian' outfits which operated under a declared intent to blow up Americans, of course we'd call them "Christian Terrorists".

If you'd read the articles linked, you'd know that before this happened, U.S. intel knew he'd been in contact with, or at least trying to contact, Al Qaeda representatives. That's good grounds for calling it a terrorist act.

What I want to know is why they didn't tell his superiors!!!

Hitler was not motivated by christianity. Early indications are that this individual was motivated by radical Islam. If he did so because of his religion, in order to inflict harm upon America, then it is terrorism.

Jeezus on a Postage Stamp! :grrr: ](*,)

My family and friends are within a good hours drive of Fort Hood Texas, and we've all been walking on egg shells to NOT turn this into something bigger than it already is.

Sadly it seems to have been turned into a reason to exclude, and alienate any Non-Christian (read Muslim) believers who choose to serve in the United States Military. :(

This is some FUCKED UP SHIT!

The Self-hating Democratic, Jew before an American, War Hawk, Joe Lieberman, needs to go and fuck himself! :grrr:

And for some reason you say that Joe is calling it like it is???

It's MORE divisive BULLSHIT if you ask me.

There are an awful lot of really good people who volunteer to serve our country when others are to lazy to do so, or that have some compulsion against it, but the instant that some whack-job runs off the rails, the War Hawks, and Fox News commentators (who's job it is to tell Americans what they should be afraid of, and WHO to blame for it) start finding ANY association that they can (regardless of any truth) to further divide and to stir up animosity against an ENTIRE group of people that had nothing to do with this.

Here in the part of Texas that I live in, not far from Fort Hood, we're more concerned for family, friends, and neighbors and how we treat each other, than we are with someone's definition of Political Correctness, or political idealogy to further inflame an already painful situation.

The Independent Senator from Connecticut should show more respect for the office that he holds, instead of being a douche bag and pandering to the lowest common denominator amongst his so called constituency!

Maybe Lieberman is bucking for Glenn Becks job on how to stir up shit without any accountability.

Anti-American?

There are your "radicals" my friend.

Easy, Texpatriot.

As we've seen from the articles linked, there's good reason for Lieberman to make such claims, and the source wasn't Fox News but the CIA.

OTOH, the place he should have raised that is in his committee, not a public venue.

I'd agree that Lieberman was telling it like it is -- but he was telling it in the wrong place.

Once again, our *cough* "government" admitting a mistake. Can we say flight training school for immigrants without student visas?

:grrr:

How fucking stupid do they thing the American Public are???

If they knew this guy was a possible threat, and about to go off the rails, where's the accountability?

Where does the FUCKING BUCK STOP?

Well if telling it to any media outlet that gives him any credence as a United States Senator, I have to ask "who has to benefit more" some media whore scorned woman of the the Democratic Party, or an American/Senator/Committee Chair that has the ability to hold countless numbers of Government Agencies and Institutions accountable (The Army for starters!), for not keeping closer tabs on this guy!?!

Instead he wants to imply by his very words, or to call into question the patriotism of many a Muslim American who patriotically serve our country, without due course OR responsibility!

I'm just calling it the way that I SEE IT!

Lieberman is a douche bag, and there's nothing PC about that!

I'm not defending Lieberman at all -- just to be clear.

As chair of the Homeland Security committee, he should have kept his mouth shut, called in the members wherever they were, and told them they were all marching over to meet with Napolitano and ask what the hell went wrong. She's the one who's supposed to be making sure that this didn't happen again, by keeping all the intel weenies talking to each other. It lands on her desk.

But at the moment, Lieberman has tossed shit on the fire, and it stinks.

I think I'll drop him an e-mail.

You're just not rational. Lieberman said nothing of the sort. He said that there were warning signs about this individual subscribing to radical islam, and that those signs were ignored. There was no implication whatsoever that muslim americans in the military are unpatriotic. You are putting words into his mouth and you need to sit back, take a deep breath, and chill.
