Roger Ailes, chief architect for Fox News has publicly told his hosts to .....

SHUT UP + TONE IT DOWN

with regard to Arizona Tucson tragedy

good news I think

My take on Fox coverage is that it is getting more reasonable - not sure many here would agree ;)

Roger Ailes, the conservative who heads the Fox News Channel, has told his traditionally outspoken hosts to "shut up, tone it down" in the wake of the massacre in Tucson that is putting overheated right-wing rhetoric under intense scrutiny.

"I told all of our guys, shut up, tone it down, make your argument intellectually," Ailes said in an interview with Russell Simmons, the global hip-hop impresario, that was posted at Simmons news site, GlobalGrind.com. "You don't have to do it with bombast."

Shut up and tone what down? The right has no culpability right?

And I guess it takes one shooting spree before Faux tones down the bullshit.

Do you ever stop and think before you post?

once in a while ;)

not in this case

Jets 28
Pats 21

woo hoo

as for LostLover - don't think he is into Pres. Obama's plea for civility

like many ............... they live for the battle and demonizing their opponent is their MO

If by civility you mean not tell how I really feel? Fuck no.

give Ailes and Fox some credit

they deserve it

doesn't mean you don't speak your mind

just open it a little

Ailes deserve cancer not pity. He has an awful race hating history. I'm too lazy to look it up but The Daily Beast wrote an article about this loser.

You don't need to be nasty. I haven't been nasty to you. You really should google that expose about Ailes before you rush to his defense.

nasty?

you wished someone cancer

i think the way you communicate on this board is cancerous - it spreads - and instead of reasonable dialogue it's just you suck no you suck etc.

and wishing someone cancer is outrageous

i will read your article

but i would never wish cancer on someone

and fox has been more agreeable on air - as evidenced by their tucson memorial analysis - i watched it

and by ailes words here

both are good signs

you need to review how you look at things IMO

You really need to look at Outfoxed and all their racist and inflammatory bullshit. We saw it reach to the point of six innocent deaths last weekend. Put my comments into perspective with Faux Noise's bullshit.

I would like to retract the cancer comment. That was digusting. I strongly dislike Ailes but he doesn't deserve cancer.

Provide links and citations that Loughner watched Fox News and was heavily influenced by it or retract your statement. Your free-reign of making these bullshit statements is over. Put up, or keep your damn mouth shut. [-X

I dislike Ailes as well but good grief at least give him credit for doing the right thing here.

However nice it may feel to believe that one's favorite rabble-rousers roused the Tucson shooter, there is as yet no evidence for your position, LL -- so JB3 is right. Given the "shrine" in his back yard --

-- it's doubtful he was in tune with reality in any reasonable sense. Any connections are but conjecture so far.

Kinda like congratulating the guy in the 100m who shows up at two minutes after the gun goes off.

Nice spin job on the part of Ailes to try and shift blame awar from him and Murdoch ... acting as if the hosts do their own thing. They do exactly what the top brass tell them to do, so I find Ailes' comments to be rather humorous and certainly insincere.

^ Your belief that Loughner lived in a vacuum is kinda pathetic.

Agreed.

Who said I believed Loughner lived in a vacuum? Of course he didn't. But there is no proof whatsoever that he was heavily influenced by Fox news or sarah palin. If you even attempt to say that he was, then you damn well better have some proof to back it up.
