France: Anti-Gay Protestors Storm "Gay Pair-eee"

For those who can read (poorly written internet) French...
Most pathetic tumbler (content) ever http://manifpashomophobemais.tumblr.com/ #-o

It's mostly homophobic nonsense, but the blogger is clearly on our side as he or she posts the silliest homophobic nonsense, and the wittiest gay friendly replies. I'm just mentioning this in case others didn't catch that.

^ yes the blogger of this tumbler is gay an reposting posts from another tumbler/blog that he then proceed to comment/ridicule...

Well I went to the March today, it was all nice and fuzzy but I was a little disappointed, even though our number doubled the previous pro march, we didn't outnumber the antis... I think many people didn't bother to show up because they know the law will pass anyway, whatever the antis try ...
But I still feel it was an opportunity to make a clear statement and I wish it would have been clearer.

Remember that the other side bused/brought in by train people from all over the country and even out of country.

It's kind of ironic that the French, being the country with one of the highest rates of divorce, would actually think along those lines. I always find it funny of how we Americans find odd when homophobia in Europe is mentioned, as if they didn'tthink it existed. I want to make my homosexuality known in Paris, when I'm there this summer, just to see how many heads I can turn.

mmmm i thought Paris is about "french connection porn", Cadinot porn.
Shouldn't they be more open minded than Canada ?

Maybe show them these porn to the protestors.

Not much in Paris... but try it in the suburbs... well no actually don't try

I lived in the suburbs of Paris, no thanks. A car exploded outside of my window, ghetto children running around. It was kinda sad, really.

Suburbs don't always have the same social function in Europe as they do in the US.

Inner suburbs are usually OK, but outer suburbs (exurbs, as it were) can be nasty places. But those places are by definition beyond the reach of the subway, tram, and commuter trains. The closest any tourist ever comes to those places is on the train to the airport or Disneyland Paris, when you can occasionally see the run-down buildings from afar.

Gay marriage has now been approved in the National Assembly (the lower house, like the House of Commons or the House of Representatives) by a très large majority. In similar news, people protested against gay marriage in next-door Belgium, where the first lesbian couple tied the knot exactly ten years ago last month. Police counted about fifty anti-gay protesters, none of whom were harmed by the hundreds of gay counterprotesters.

In Belgium? Seriously? They had marriage equality when the US finally got rid of its last medieval sodomy laws. Well there are going to be fundies everywhere you go, just like us.

Well, no. They brought fifty fundies in from France, but the police persuaded them to get back on their bus before they were going to let loose the hundreds of gay counterprotesters. And yes, I remember the Supreme Court legalizing sodomy in 2002 or 2003. Imagine, in 1792, loooong before the United Kingdom of the Netherlands broke up in Holland and Belgium, it legalized homosexuality.
