One of the earliest chapters of my sexual awakening was an awareness of hairy arm pits. I was about 10 or 11. I was at a pool, and became acutely aware that most guys slightly older than I, and even some of my peers, had hair in their pits. I identified this as something extremely masculine, and positive. I looked at my own, still perfectly smooth, and felt deficient.

I'm fair haired and smooth, and it would be 3 or 4 more excruciatingly long years before I began to sprout noticable bush in my pits (and other places).

When I'm with a guy, I always make a significant 'pit' stop on my way to points down south :)

I had the same experience, but I was also fascinated by pubic hair. When in the pool, I was looking at the guys' arm pits. When in the dressing room, I was looking at their pubes. Several years later, I became acutely aware of the size of their penis. I am still fascinated by all of these.
