Be careful with the broad brush strokes!

My mom is a staunch Republican, but when a TV show had a quick blurb about him that made him sound like some sort of shining example, she threw her book at the TV, and spent the rest of the show noting the sponsors -- with the intent of never buying from them again.
I also have a friend who is a gunsmith, and a Republican, and to him the only conceivable reason God could have put the Ref. Phelps on this earth is for target practice.





note: "Ref." is not a typo; to Dan, it stands for "Refuse", his title for Phelps and his ilk

If we lived in a civilized society, that deranged lunatic Phelps and his entire incestuous, inbred cult-family would be locked away in a mental institution.

Sadly, we live in a society that rewards their insanity with tax exemption.

We live in a society where critics of the President are labelled "Un-American" and "Appeasers of Terrorists" - while madmen are allowed and encouraged to picket the funerals of our fallen soldiers and murdered children.

He is a segregationist,old time ultraconservative Democrat....wishing it away and giving him a personal excommunication from the party won't change anything.He is a total quack,a cartoon character nutjob who hates gays and our troops,because he believes we are an immoral country,and deserve GOD'S WRATH.He is totally a fringe character....James Dobson or Louis Wildmon of the American Family Group are bigger threats to freedom in this nation,and they unfortunately do wrap their tentacles around the Republican Party with their extreme social conservatism and bigotry.To me,Fred Phelps and his band of nutjobs are so outrageously out of bounds,focusing on him takes the spotlight away from other ,more insidious foes.

However clever the comma remark, it does not change Phelp's history. If your point is that Phelps in no way represents the prevailing thought or values of the Democratic party, then I heartily agree with you. But if we are going to use a pyschotic shithead who represents nothing more than a whorish desire to get himself on TV as a weapon in today's acrimonuous partisan enviroment, then certainly it should be for the party with whom he has been affiliated. Alfie has repeated used photoshopped graphics and direct comment to say that Phelps is a Republican, all without eliciting the slightest use of capitalization from most of the respondents on this board. Seems to me that the use of those capitals would be better spent on emphasizing that maybe, just maybe, the use of the name of a gay hatemonger in political debate on a gay discussion board is a bit offensive - at the very least, when it is done so as a blatant lie.

As I had mentioned...he is a caricature and not worth all the hysteria.He's a total nut job.He's an old-time southern Democrat,very socially conservative,and hates America so much he protests military funerals..he's too easy a target and too unbalanced and hateful to everyone,he is unworthy of anyone's obsessive concern.

I've seen her on Hannity and Colmes before, but I never knew who she was... I saw her last night. She's actually psychotic looking... She is so crazy she's scary...

She said those little girls died because of the sins of Pennsylvania, the Governor, etc... Sean Hannity kept telling her, "You're sick, sick!" and she sort of smiled, "Well, I've got a slight cold, but thanks for your concern..." Colmes said he felt so sorry for her that he was unable to get angry with her...

The things she was saying were indescribable... I can't even remember any more than what I've said here... I must have blocked them out... There is no way on earth I could have sat that close to her without vomiting...

or maybe even killing her with my bare hands...

I believe in freedom of speech, but advocating that a class of people be outlawed and executed rises to a level of hate speech that should never be permitted. I wounder how long he would be allowed to rant if he filled in the "God Hates _____" blank with some other minority or class?

I'm with you man...I'd love to beat the living crap out of him and all his inbred followers. I just keep reminding myself that they want anything that gives them attention in the news. They certainly will have a special place to cook for eternity.

It already does here in Canada, and it's against the law, which is why Phelps and/or his followers will be arrested the moment they step foot on Canadian soil. He knows that, too, which is why we don't have to listen to his crap day after day.

By the way, someone posted a recording of Phelp's wife in interview with a TV reporter and the reporter lets her have it. Does anyone know which one I'm talking about and where it is?

It would go a long way in explaining how evil this group is.

That wasn't the one, but it was good. The one I was thinking of had a female reporter, and she ripped into Shirley really well. (My apologies. She is Phelp's sister, not his wife.)
