I also agree that he should set up some kind of video surveillance - ideally high def & with good 'night vision' ... and maybe an armed guard too.

They won't attack.
Their kids are desperate for any outside social contact, even when it's just the media.
Louis Theroux did a second documentary on the family, and one of the daughters you could see had fallen for a student film maker from the Netherlands who had visited them. She was in tears over the idea of him burning in Hell, even though she knew she was supposed to rejoice in that fact. She along with Shirley's daughter Grace have since left the WBC.
Louis also talk with two of the kids who have been thrown out since he last saw them. One was really torn up over missing her parents, and her mom was too.
Those of us who have been disowned by our families can certainly empathize with what those two girls are feeling right now.

I really don't understand these idiots. Ok...they're crazy, that's obvious. And they hate the gays. What does that have to do with anything that they protest? I mean, I might understand more if the bombs killed a bunch of gay people or something....

It's a shame they don't have the funds to take these protests abroad, where their safety and liberty would be less assured.

They have more than enough money to go anywhere they want. They've tried and they've been stopped. Fred Phelps knows that, if he steps foot on Canadian soil, he will be arrested. They tried to protest a funeral here in Canada a few years ago. They were met with such opposition at the airport that they turned around and went home again. They even tried to get into Australia. (Heath Ledger's funeral, I believe.)

Their hatred simply isn't tolerated anywhere else. It's too bad their rights in the US supersede those of the grieving, but they're a family of lawyers, and they know THEIR rights.

a joke fm several years ago . When AIDS started killing people in the 80s some hateful loonies tried to say this was God's judgement on gay men . The logical counter was then that Lesbians must be the chosen people because they got it even less than straight people .
