So after Kathy griffin's holding Trump's head pic incident,
Do you think there is a "free speech" or not ??

I would say no, you have to pay for the words coming of your mouth.
How about you ??

I'm not sure why she thought that head thing was a good idea. I didn't watch the video, but I assume she's apologising for it, and the right wing press will take that to new frenzied heights of disapproval.

Meanwhile, people who have expressed wanting to lynch Obama have been meeted and greeted by the encumbent who is ensconced the highest office in the land.

A strange fruit indeed of our times...

Yeah. The kicker there is Griffin's a comedian who nosedived trying a piece that I could interpret at least 3 different ways when considering the current political climate involving Mr TinyHands with his blustering on foreigners & his idea of terrorism when compared to real-world examples. The other images I can interpret exactly one way, political clime or no - and they're all racist with no underlying message but "We loath black people, let's use stereotypes while actively picturing killin' 'em." Lacks that certain somethin' that makes you think, there's no room on interpretation there to make you ponder like art is supposed to.

And yet no one is blinking that the woman's being held to a higher standard than everyone else.

If I'd done Griffin's image I'd either have pictured his decapitated head being used as a hand-puppet by the Republicans or had it set on a plate with a bottle of open ketchup next to it with a copy of cutting breakfast and lunch programs underneath. And a cute little ribbon at the bottom claiming "Ketchup; it's a vegetable!". Or have the bottle shoved down his throat because the school's can't afford fruit anymore. On one of those cheep plastic lunch trays, preferably tilted at a rakish angle like they do on fast food commercials. As it stands I thought her choice of photography was a bit half-assed, could've made it so much more pertinent.

Then again, I never found her particularly funny. Maybe if she added a burger king crown to his head.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequences from said speech. With that freedom comes a responsibility.

The if/then argument regarding Obama comparison is complete bullshit IMO.

I think she is paying the price for her miscaluclation.

She knew what she was doing was on the edge. When you ride the edge you can't be surprised if you fall. She fell and she fell hard. I've never thought she was funny and I think what she did was in very poor taste. She's paying the price for her own actions.

Free speech means the government can't arrest you or persecute you for speaking out against the government and things like that. She can do and say what she pleases but she can't be surprised when what she's done backfires on her. She's made her own mess and she has to deal with it. I read a news story where she blamed President Trumps family for the backlash and then later on said it was "white men" that were responsible for her career tanking. It's anyone's fault but hers. That's why this keeps getting bigger and she keeps digging herself a bigger hole. She needs to own up to what she did and said then shut the hell up and lay low. I sincerely hope we won't see or hear from her again. She really isn't very funny.

You never saw them? There was one a new racist one every week for 8 years---but progressives don't need to go as low as the right wing lunatics---I lost interest in Kathy after the Fashion Police mess---hard to believe she is so stupid to believe that --that picture wouldn't cause an outrage----she should disappear for a while and then try to emerge.

So, according to the internet several people actually believe Cheeto isn't petty enough to drag a situation out after an apology because the original image wasn't anywhere near flattering.

I wonder where they pulled that falsely generous view from.

Certainly those hanging watermelon images didn't get a thumbs-down from politicos of all stripes across the nation. I'm curious, can anyone give an alternate meaning possibility to the racism in those hanging/monkey/watermelon images? Anyone? Context through current events, one perhaps besides "Oooooh, black man exists."

As opposed to Griffin's nod to terrorism in her piece by mimicking the pose you find said imagery content in context-wise. As in specifically destroying those terrorists of a radical Islamist stripe that was one of Orangy's campaign promises. It's no state secret a hell of a lot of people have noticed that he tends to terrorize everyone else through incredibly inept, greedy and spiteful political actions. Certainly those two things could never come together to make a coherent photo, no.

As for white men; yeah, actually. Everyone's allowed to consider themselves insulted with no apology to be found, apparently, but the highest white man in the land. The man is actively doing and has done considerably worse things in all seriousness and a comedian makes a joke picturing Cheeto's head a la Classic Terrorist & Campaign Promises and, well.

Our government has become a complete farce. Any incidental flops or foibles have become irrelevant. Griffin's blunder is but a symptom of the extreme level of surrealism and dysfunction that has become this presidency.

God, save us. Forget about the queen.

I'll just quote the person who said "This weekend, we should've been talking Trump and Russia. Instead, we're talking Kathy Griffin. This is the actual problem."

Eh, they're both problems. I did hear through a roundabout grapevine from a friend of a friend who works with Rather Important People that the NY Times is planning that kind of 'shocking' expose this fall. Heard-tell they're sitting on quite a few things that they're planning on rolling out with no room to breath. Take with salt, Obvs, apparently the same friend of a friend has a positive outlook on life and what such things accomplish. I suspect he'll be impeached in November, personally, no matter what the NYT rolls out, and Russia is coming up sooner rather than later at this point.

The world is big enough to talk about ALL topics including Trump to rose planting.

It's probably just me, but he looks like he is building in anger . . .

This is true but doesn't happen in practice unfortunately.

I can't help but not get upset over what she did considering all the stuff Trump said, all the stuff Ted Nugent said were probably applauded by the same individuals upset now.

Not a fan of Trump but Kathy Griffin is a moron to make a video with a beheaded image of the US President would piss off Americans. Kathy Griffin is funny I give her that BUT she went too far this time. Sadly, Kathy Griffin has a lot of enemies and they will be thrilled with her down fall. I do not think this is the end for Kathy but she needs to take a break and disappear for a while. Even her gay BFF Anderson Cooper has distanced himself from Kathy Griffin. She has lost gigs and sponsors she blew it.
