Friday Night Lights

Only guys like Matt Saracen would still ask "would you be my girlfriend?". Love that kid. I was surprised what a humane turn Coach Mac took in this episode compared to the last. So is he a racist? Did he just say something stupid at the moment? or did he just make a mistake?

Also, Landry was great.
 
This is my first post here...finally something I care about. This show is amazing. I have watched it from the start. Great story lines, etc. Unfortunately it will probably be cancelled at the end of the season. Maybe if we start a save Friday Night Lights campaign it might save it? LOL doubt it.

I just love everything about the show. The final scene with Matt and Julie was just too cute for words. Loved the talk between Smash and his mother. And the interactions of the Taylors each week makes it seem as if they've been an actual family forever. I feel more intrusive watching their scenes than any number of 'Real Worlds', where I know the people are playing to the cameras.
 
Hey thanks for the info about that...who knows like you said stranger things have happened. I also find the Taylor family interactions amazing...if only my own family had been like that growing up...........
 
Yeah the whole Jason Street storyline is starting to bore me, and the show could do without him anymore.

Really? I kinda like the side road they're taking with Jason... especially with the upcoming trial. It would be interesting to see what happens if he doesn't make the team and how destructive he can be with Lyla and Riggins. But I think he's too nice of a guy to ever do something stupid for a long period of time. We'll see how he does in a couple of weeks.
 
I liked the "side road" that they took for a little bit...but it is starting to get old. It seems every episode is about Jason and Lyla, and whether or not he should let her go or whether she loves him. Blah blah blah.
 
last night was one of my favorite episodes of the season. the taylor's are the best family.i even like their fights. it was cool for tim riggins to stand up for smash at the end. he's starting to grow on me. i like how they show how a high school sports team takes over the town.can you believe those cops? i agree the jason story is kinda boring. but luckily it was such a small part of the show.
 
Here's what I've been trying to figure out... what year these Dillon High School are in. We know some already, but some I'm just assuming. For example...

We know Matt Saracen and Julie Taylor are Sophomores and Smash Williams is a Junior. But what about the rest of the gang? I'm assuming Tyra, Tim, Lyla and Jason are all seniors. If so, will they be gone by next season? But I see a potential reason for each of those seniors to stick around... Tyra, because she's a drop out, Tim... deadbeat moocher, Jason... fails to make team and stuck in Dillon... Lyla though, she's a go-getter, am assuming she's going to college somewhere. Any thoughts?

yea ive wondered what grade they were in too. for some reason i think tim and smash are the same year because they have that rivalry. but if jason is a senior and tim and jason were best friends i'd figure they were in the same year.i dunno. i hope tyra doesn't drop out she's my favorite female character. i think she does have higher aspirations. i got that in the episode when she hooked up with that businessman.

So I downloaded the first episode. I wasn't really into it. :rolleyes: Sorry. And Matt is.... meh.

I'm sorry to say, but it'll probably end up like Arrested Development.
 
I think it is a great show, too. Matt is my favorite character, but I feel for Riggins, too. He seems to have had a rough life. I hope the show makes it for a second season.

Saracen is so adorable and he and Julie are so cute together. I actually like them together and don't find their relationship boring at all like most couples on tv once they're finally together.
 
This show is great. I hope that NBC doesn't cancel it after this season ends.
 
So NBC has announced that the season finale is set for April 22nd... when FNL will complete its 22-episode contracted stint before May Sweeps.

Back to show for a sec, after tonight's episode... I'm awaiting the moment when Tyra's mom will snap on Mrs. Taylor for trying to take over her motherly roles... and what is up with Smash's girlfriend... the chick went from being a sweetie pie to an advocate to a nutjob in a matter of 3 episodes.

Sigh. I'm going to need for Matt and Landry screentime.

I've had friends who stopped taking meds for manic/depression, and it was exactly like what was shown. Uncomfortably so. Poor Smash. I don't see Tyra's mother being at all upset. Tyra's more of the mother in that relationship anyway. She needs a strong adult figure, and Tami's perfect at it. LOVED their scene together! I guess Tim's due to have a thing with the kid's mother? Scary, but probably shirtless/pantless, so I'm all for it.
 
I loved the Tim Riggins and the kid next door scene. Riggins is a good character and I love the actor. Hot!
 
another awesome episode tonight. at first i wasn't feeling the jason street storyline as usual but i started to like it. surprisingly my favorite part was the football scene toward the end. and when u see that they spent the whole night there and matt fell asleep with his hand on smash's stomach, that was priceless. i hope the taylor's don't move and i hope this show is renewed.
