Friday The 13th - Trailer

Friday the 13th looks good. Saw a trailer of it at the premiere of Saw V [awful movie btw]. Hope the director does a better job with this remake then he did with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Speaking of which, I was at blockbuster the other night hoping to rent the original TCM to show my fiance [he has never seen it before]. I found it odd that no BlockBuster in the city has the original TCM for rent. They just got rid of it! Thats like taking Halloween, Hellraiser, or Friday the 13th originals out of your movie selections... how do you eliminate one of the original horror classics from your rentals??

While it sucks they remake classic horror films anyways, I rather preferred Zombie remade Halloween before some other newb producer in Hollywood did. He didnt trample the original Halloween in any way because in essence, the film was really just a prequel, explaining how Michael Myers got to be so fucked up, and explained the kinds of things that strip a child of his ability to empathize with other people and their feelings. It was really a movie about what makes sociopaths psychopathic, although John Carpenter's Halloween suggested Michael Myers as pure evil and thus his being an immortal.

Halloween's been my favorite movie since I was an itty-bitty kid, when my mom first showed it to me when I was 7. I would be Zombie's first critic, believe me. But he did a wicked job - its just impossible to remake a classic hoping to make it better then the original. You cant beat Donald Pleasance and Jamie Lee Curtis. And Nick Castle always had the best performance as "the Shape". The original Halloween was by far the best Halloween.

And you have to admit - when Michael beat that bully in the remake of Halloween in the woods with that huge stick; that was fucking cool.

Another remake that fucks with the original to the point of banality. No Mama Vorhees? Then why remake it if you're going to completely ignore crucial parts of it?

The scariest kill in the first one was when the guy in the wheel chair had a knife thrown into his face and fell down the stairs.

Holy hell! That's probably the Friday 13th movie that scared me the most. I so remember that dude in the wheel chair and the machete being thrown into his face. Great scene!
