I have had friends with benefits in college.

We were friends who found each other physically attractive and sexually compatible, but there was no romance or anything possible beyond friendship.

Basically we were friends that went to clubs and movies and studied together but when we were horny and we had no boyfriends we got off with each other.

We didn't see it really so much as romantic sex but rather recreation.
 
I've actually had more success in the FWB arena than with full-on romantic relationships.

That said, I was starting to develop stronger feelings for my last FWB guy that I don't think he was feeling. But he definitely thought of me as a friend.
 
I call them fuck buddies since I'm usually not friends with them before meeting them and decide to have casual sex. I've only had emotions in one of them on my part because I really want this guy and once he realized that he pushed me away. Disagree. It just takes people who are intelligent enough to understand what's going on, and wise enough to separate the "sex" and "love" concepts. However - and here's your issue - you can't guarantee that your friend is intelligent and wise enough.

works awesome sometimes. it depends on the dynamic between the two people involved.

i currently have one and it's great. we see each other probably 3 nights a week? couldn't be happier with the arrangement.

The issue with the most recent FWB situation is that when I wanted to drop the "benefits"part with him and pursue a real relationship with a guy, the FWB called me selfish and said that I wasn't being a friend.

The NSA thing works better w/ a fuck buddy, especially if you already have a fella at home. Just pick someone who appeals to you, but isn't in your social circle and doesn't live too close to you. That way if he starts doodling I heart Sha Rok :luv:, it'll be easier to break it off w/o the drama.

I get what you're saying though. It's incredibly awkward when someone wants to change the rules of the relationship and you aren't up for it. No matter how clear you are about what you're looking for, some people still build higher expectations. It's frustrating!
