Fuck Amazon

UPS is firing 20,000 drivers and shuttering depots because of the collapsing sales through Amazon.

I suppose the US Postal Service will be next. Weren't they in serious financial trouble before Amazon?

Well, TrumpCo. is looking to turn the USPS over to Amazon...although if suddenly there aren't tens of thousands of drivers delivering cheap plastic shit made in China to every US household, the appeal of still having to deliver mail might start to lose some of its charm for Bezos.

UPS is happy they’re getting out from under Amazon. They were losing money with Amazon deliveries.

No, I don't believe that at all. A few years ago years ago they were trying to get it all - trying to cut USPS out altogether.

For any of them to say that they are happy to get rid of Amazon's business, now, sounds like a Peewee "I meant to do that" move -- cheap/hollow.

In January, UPS announced a "glide down" plan to cut transported order volumes with the e-commerce giant "more than 50 percent by the second half of 2026." During the first quarter, Dykes said that package volume from Amazon had already declined by 16 percent, adding that this "was more than we originally planned."

However, CEO Carol Tomé added: "Sixty percent of the volume that we're gliding down is not profitable for us, and by gliding that down, we actually give ourselves financial flexibility to address other scenarios that might come our way."

Where did you get this info?

The Teamsters have made it clear that UPS isn't to even think about firing any Union members, and I believe that all of their drivers are in that Union.

What I got from the article posted late yesterday is that those fired would be those workers who are being replaced by machines/automation in UPS warehouses. Not Union protected drivers, and little to nothing to do with Amazon whatsoever.

We'll see how successful this movement is....people are addicted to Amazon...although I would point out that Target was body slammed by the boycott after
bending the knee and cancelling their DEI initiatives.

What all does Bezos own?

Bezos' companies own internet (cloud) services that many businesses have come to rely on. They cannot just boycott them, they would need months to reorganise the way they work and even when they do, the rival suppliers are owned by Microsoft and Google, so it's same shit, different flavour.

But for the domestic consumer there are no such excuses, there are any number of sites which are not Amazon where you can buy the same cheap tat for easy delivery.
We cannot kill the monster but at least we can stop feeding it.

My favorite are people that say "Fuck Amazon" then go shop at Walmart, Target, and Home Depot after picking up their coffee from Starbuks...

Oh, not in a mostly plastic car, I hope. LOL

I was going to say, "Where else is there?" But retail is not yet a monopoly. In the Northeast we have Boscov's, a department store chain founded by a Yiddish immigrant who found success is Pennsylvania Dutch country. (Yes, the languages are similar.) Despite an occasional misstep (Montgomery Mall in PA) they've assumed store locations others have failed in (Binghamton, NY; Wilkes-Barre, PA) and succeeded.
And who needs Whole Foods? ShopRite is a collective of individually-owned supermarkets (some groups have several, but none more than ten) and they're doing fine.

Lol, nobody is going to boycott stores. Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc., are as busy as ever.

We'll see what happens as shelves start to empty over the next few months.
