Despite not having been doing that bad these past few... four days...

So, so far...

I don't know what this all means, but thanks for the Astaire-Rogers clip. I've never seen "Follow the Fleet", only this dance sequence. God! This is elegant, starting with the 2:23 minute sequence of only music, movement and mime.
And the cast: Astaire, Rogers, Randolph Scott, Harriet Hilliard Nelson (Rick's mother), Lucille Ball, Betty Grable...and even Humphrey Bogart. The baroque-deco lantern with volutes is the icing on the cake.

I remember being smitten by the theme, and all that you point at there, upon noticing it in a Rogers-Astaire documentary decades ago, and feeling so disappointed some years after upon watching the whole film and seeing that it had nothing to see with that sequence, unlike those other legendary ones in "Top Hat" or "Gay Divorcee", whose general tone and setting match the numbers (actually, derive from it, not merely being theatrically set apart from the rest of the action). Only Harriet Hilliard (Nelson) was a pleasant gain from that whole watching: and one might sensee where did Ricky get his looks from
The number still remains an obsessive favourite of mine... despite hating the lack of creative development in the score  at least it is not a shallow Mancini orchestration effort.

¿Besas A tu madre con esa boca?
Never!! I don't even hug her... she dispaired on that decades ago. I didn't even notice but, apparently, one fine day during my teens I started being too catty and cantankerous for that.

I don't kiss anybody. No kissable people around.
