When one choses to inflict pain or make another uncomfortable it is not to inflict pain, it is to share it. I believe that those who act in an offensive way toward others for no apparent reason are not content or happy in their own lives and wish to spread their lack of joy.

I think you are over analyzing this and under estimate the immaturity of some men. It has nothing to do with being unhappy. Guys just act like idiots for the sake of being idiots.
 
Most of the time, people who would make this remark are so ugly no woman would willingly let them do it. I am reminded of one day working in Wall Street in New York heading back to my office after Lunch standing waiting for a light where a (even for me being gay) hot Blonde professional woman in a well made suit and I stood waiting.
