Hiring movers is probably the best way to go if you can afford it. Make sure you get several estimates and references, if possible. Check them out with the BBB too.

Good decision Trans

In the long run I think it will make the move a lot easier.

Good luck - hope you don't have a piano to move to that second floor... I could take a box of linens up for you if you need some help later!! (*8*)

That's what I'm talkin' about. Take piccies!

You are not going to use collegemusclemovers??? I guess that means those guys will have to resort to porn to make ends meet--

I decided AGAINST one of the companies advertised in the local gay mag as featuring "athletic" workers. I'm sure they're very efficient.

You can tell they're efficient by the way they (don't) use the dolly.

I got a few estimates before going with my company...and I've used them in the past. They didn't break anything, so I consider that damn near perfect. ;)

i am such a 'mo. i would hire them on the spot and i would be drooling over the gay (oops!), i meant guy on the phone.

but seriously trans, hiring movers is the smartest thing you could do. moving can be such a pain in the ass. the last time i made sure and hired movers and plan to do it again. its less stress for sure.

the phone guy is hotTT!... the video sounds a bit like the lead-in for a "D" porn vid ... ... but he's cute

I hope that your move runs smoothly and inexpensively. Are you going to show us photos of your new place? :) (****crosses fingers****)

I feel like I own too much stuff to ever move. It just got to the point where the thought of it seems ridiculous. Just getting the bedroom furniture down the stairs by professionals without damaging anythng seems unlikely. I was shocked to see that they were able to get it upstairs, even with a wide staircase. And then the costs involved with selling the house and the movers...I would guess it would cost me more than $60k. Nahh....don't think I will move. Thankfully, I like where I live.

I think you made the right decision, Trans... When we were living in Houston we moved from our apartment to a new house. We packed everything up and moved the highly fragile items, then had the movers move the rest. Not having to move appliances and furniture was great! Money WELL spent!

Oh, and enjoy the new place!! (*8*)
