Over the past 40 years in my own professional capacity, I have never worked with an uncorrupted or honest Russian firm or person. Seriously. But most of the time, the Presbyterian choir boy has been able to navigate through the piles of bullshit.

And over the past year I have had to draw the line with one particularly horrid firm and declare 'enough' after months of them bullying and extorting a client.

So finally, the whole mess, as I told them it would be if they persisted, is now in the hands of lawyers. And I will see them ground into dust for their egregious dishonesty.

please tell me that you have Russian colleagues or business associates that you have had no problems with.

We are having to fucking bite the tips of our tongues off and not type in emails what we are really thinking as PutinCo. rolls through the Ukraine and the west freezes some of the spoils of the oligarchs because our emails may become part of the court records.

But if I could only let loose.

Have you ever had to deal with the trash who feel emboldened by PutinCo. in the west.

I have a couple jobs in Sheepshead Bay which is a heavily Russian community.

It's a well known fact around here: they're rude. Very rude. If they're blocking an aisle in a store or something, they won't move for you no matter how many times you say "excuse me". Probably why their word for excuse me is five syllables long.

The women are fun to watch. They put on a fur coat, high heels and 40 pounds of makeup just to go to the corner to buy a pint of milk.

It's also been said that their men are completely pussywhipped.

No discernable difference in their demeanor since all of this started, nor have I seen any indication that they have anything to say about it. No protests, no signs on lawns or storefronts.

For at least a decade my partner and I have worked repeatedly with an appliance repair company owned and staffed by Russians. Reliable, honest, interesting and enjoyable. I recently did a project with a Russian woman who coordinated and supervised the installation of hardwood floors in a house I designed. Big breasts, hair and lips--so much so that at first I didn't take her seriously, but she was conscientious, helpful, had a heart of gold and put up with me and my constant worrying over details. Great experience with a lovely woman. My own personal experiences a few years ago in Moscow and St. Petersburg, were wonderful-- overwhelmingly so. When I was told (more than once) that I "seemed Russian" I took it as a great compliment. I left the country an enthusiastic Russophile, eager to return.

The Director of Early Learning at my school district was a Russian immigrant.
Very open and friendly, she tended to treat everyone more like an old friend instead of an employee.

I'm sure she could sense my distrust of any supervisor who is too friendly with staff.

One of my favorite people is a Russian man who I have known over 25 years now. He is about 10 years older than me and treats me like a son but he is an asshole.

I say that with no malice. I am OK with assholes who know they are assholes in general. I have a problem with deceptive women - they are my idea of evil. My friend is just a dick and he owns it and doesn't pretend he isn't one which makes me grin. He is overbearing and pushy and macho and loud and straight but he wants me and my husband to have a formal wedding so he can dance and give me away LOL - (never gonna happen). He also teaches me to swear in Russian and has nasty nasty stories and a potty mouth. I love his thick accent.

His Russian wife is a hoot too. She is very stern and blunt. Deceptive she is not.

I haven't seen them since covid but I will probably see them in July again and I am curious what they think of Putin - I have no idea.

I’ve worked with a Russian born and taught engineer for many years. He’s with an American company. He’s friendly but I know why there’s all the jokes about “built in Russia”

So good to be reminded that there are lovely Russian immigrants out there. The only ones I know are those who fled Communist Russia.

All the ones who have thrown 3 million dollars and promised to create jobs here in order to emigrate here since PutinCo. came to power are as ugly and dishonest as sin.

I feel for one of my family members. One of their clients is from Ukraine...and then she has to deal with her Russian client right after.

Thankfully I've been spared. Just grin and bare it sis don't let them ruin your makeup. *fixes lipstick in spanish*

maybe Mother Russia's iron thumb kept them in check for 75 years---nothing worse than a commie country toying with capitalism.

There's a gap between working with Russians and having them as friends. The same is true of people from NYC.

My experience with them as friends is that they are like most Europeans- friendly and good dinner/drink company. My only negative observation is that they do not have the sunny optimism of Americans.

My experience with working with them has been mixed. They do have a much rougher way of doing business.

Their movies are generally horrid. :)

hahaha.

Our Russian mafia thug is finding out this past week that I wasn't fooling when I told him in a meeting to go fuck himself.

The lawyers for our client are now all over him....and their resolve is only heightened because of Ukraine.

I will see his mouth chewing dirt by the time we are finished with him. His cultural imperative of always lying won't save him now and if I am correct, he will be ruined.
