It's the 'dying', but not really 'dying', and then coming-back-alive-and-tranformed bit that I've never really understood about the whole Jesus mythology. If you make a sacrifce, but then that which you gave up is returned in an even better state than before, then it really isn't a proper 'sacrifice' is it?.
Hopefully, our resident Christian expert will be along sooner or later to explain why I am wrong ... it's probably all down to my inabilty to fully comprehend the data.

More ignorance about faith -- or lies made to make it easier to dismiss something rather than grapple with it.
I'm accustomed to being around Christians who aren't particularly thrilled with it, in terms of it being what they would like to believe. Most of them would like to believe that God meant life to be a smorgasbord where they didn't have to worry about crises or emergencies, where they didn't have to work and scrape to get by, or a number of other things. Christianity is hardly something would believe because it makes them feel good, which is what's always behind what you want to be true.
