Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Yes it's funny, but the differences between christians and muslims is that most christians do not believe the whole bible, and most muslims DO believe the koran hook, line and sinker.
You don't get out much do you?

Most christians : do not read their bibles, or memorise it by rote learning from the original language in which they were written. (Jesus spoke Aramaic, the earliest New Testament texts are written in Coptic in Greek). They listen to ministers and pastors who select (read cherry pick) topics and verses from the bible that fit the narrative of their own prejudices and their flock listens or as you suggest 'hook, line and sinker'.

Most muslims : boys learn the koran not only as a feat of rote memory, but they learn classical Arabic and the interpretations of the words they're learning. They have a fundamentally deeper understanding of their religious texts than most christians of theirs.

If the bottom line is the premise, that's a non sequitur.

BTW, the bottom line makes a point that Bible agrees with.

The first part is true enough in the sense that Christians who don't really believe the New Testament go around applying the Old Testament to others as though they were some sort of judges appointed by God.

Most Muslims, BTW, are little more aware of what's in the Qur'an than most Christians are what's in the Bible. Both books are large enough that for the most part people latch on to favorite bits and don't every learn more.

I don't consider a pastor who doesn't work his way through the Bible after the fashion of the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, or Lutheran system (which generally cover just about the whole Bible over a three-year period, then do it again) fit to be in the pulpit.

And few Muslim boys actually learn Arabic, they just learn the sounds, if that. That's a major complaint of Muslim fundamentalists.

That has been my experience as well.
