For what it's worth, two different studies have found that Wikipedia's content is more trustworthy than Britannica online.

Wikipedia basically gets a bad rap. Some schools don't allow it as a source because being subject to editing, it may contain inaccuracies that have not been vetted out yet and lazy students would just use it for their whole research. But there is no other source as broad in relation to subject matter. Really as long as you are using it as a starting point for research and then going on to validate it against other sources, which you should do with all sources, its a wonderful source.

This reminds me of a sermon admonition from an Episcopalian priest I heard while in college (as best I remember; words may not be exact):

"If you're not serving others, outside your comfort zone, you have no claim to certainty that you're doing God's will."
