You whore!![]()
I understand your point, but I feel that my position is changeable. If there are new facts brought to light, I will certainly consider changing my opinion. I do believe in flexibility, but I'm not open to the supernatural unless something presented is absolutely irrefutable. As yet, I have seen nothing of the kind.
What?! I was not defending religion or anything, or relativizing the fanatism derived from it, much less trying to convince anyone of anything: all I was saying is that the evil is deeper and it is not exclusively, nor even mainly related to religion, but to obdurately lazy, ignorant minds... like in politics or other cases, remove religious dogmatism and you will find the same thing under a different vest (or just the same vest turned around) to take its place.
You might agree that religion is merely an efficient vehicle for evil rather than its primary cause?
BTW, I love the word "obdurate." I've yet to have occasion to write it or say it, but it is one of my favourites.
It is officially a perfect synonym for "obstinate" but it means something different to me: I'd think of "obstinate" as active stubbornness, emphatic rejection. Whereas "obdurate" sounds much more dull and potato-like; given to unthinking inertia.
