Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Well, in his last post/s he was just exposing the logic of Christian theology. In other words, he was reminding everybody of the original message of the Christian Chinese whispers/telephone game.

You have no idea just how accurate the "telephone game" is as a description of what passes for "teaching" in many so-called non-denominational churches, especially the big ones. Without naming names... I visited one and learned that the structure for teaching is absolutely like "telephone": pastor gives assistant pastors a "teaching", assistants pass it to the elders, elders pass it to teachers, teachers pass it to group leaders. And at every step it's filtered as described by Simon and Garfunkel: "A man hears what he wants to hear, and disregards the rest".

I learned from a Lutheran pastor, Fr. Evanson, that whenever you study a passage or section, pay the most attention to what you don't want to hear -- because you'll have little trouble remembering the parts you already like.

So it's no surprise that many discussions between Christians look like this:

or that they think of their Bible as this:

Do I? Then why do you think I expressed it that way... maybe because it goes even beyond mere religious dogmatism and describes just everyday communication among the human race, when dealing with language, interpretation, knowledge, teaching and believing?

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Well that's an interesting statement coming from a member of a web community centered around gay porn. Can I assume you don't consider yourself an evangelical?

Read the statement carefully.

I'm an evangelical orthodox catholic Christian, BTW.

But they've designed their system that way. Anyone with the least understanding of education knows that won't work.

Politics, academia (philosophy, science, arts, professional criticism...), business, family... not just the god-striken, every group of people works in the exact same way, to the exact same degree of dogmatism and know-better-than-you-/holier-than-thou-ism.

Odd, but it didn't work that way when I was in college: everyone learned from the professor. Grad assistants led small groups, but they didn't just pass on what they remembered, they used the same material as the professor. And when I led study groups or did tutoring, I didn't just pass on what I liked, I went through the same material the professor did.

And when I've worked in manufacturing, we most certainly didn't work that way -- we had procedures, of which I wrote more than a few in order to put an end to making security units via instructions passed by word of mouth.

Because it's not about working, it's about magic, about faith: faith in the formulation of scientific like economical or political dogmas, "normal" "good" people live taking the most sensible or noblest ideas and turn them into material to blow until the inevitable happens, so that the difference is not any essential goodness but in the craftiness to contrive a bubble that will just last longer and will get to be blown to a bigger size before it bursts and...

Kul, it is never a question of the TIMES, but about the PLACES.
