I can't think of a worse source of knowledge about sex than a celibate virgin whose knowledge of sex comes from studying the bible at seminary school.

I hope you would agree that a female physician who learned how to treat men's health issues at med school would qualify her to be an authority on the topic.

Being celibate doesn't disqualify the Pope from being an authority on sexual matters but I don't think it's helping.

The pope's knowledge of sex would be similar to a physicist's knowledge of engineering -- one step removed from hands-on practice.

If I did not know better from previous posts of yours, I could have thought you were being ironic there.

In any case, it is true that what prevents the Pope or a cardinal from emitting a fair opinion on human sexuality, like in so many other things, is not their physical experience as much as their lack of mental exercise.
