Re: The gOy Movement

Isn't 'Natalie' 'offended with the stigmas that currently define the 'gay community'..because 'it represents the ultimate form of sexual disrespect'?
So, this is basically rearranging your previous message which doesn't clarify anything for me. What are you talking about?

Re: The gOy Movement

He is hot, but there's no head. He's been there three years and hasn't filled out his profile. I guess every answer he thought of sounded too gay.

Don't be so hasty. You will see his head and you can ask all the questions you want when you make contact. He will tailor his responses to you and you can both set the tone of your relationship together.

He isn't a product to be bought and sold in a supermarket. Human beings are flexible.

Re: The gOy Movement

I will stick produce up his flexible G0Y ass.

[ G0YS don't call other men "girl", "bitch", "queen", etc...". [/I]

Okay I got a little nervous there when I read that, because That's me to a T...I can't stand the use of those words between men, and never use them. I cannot control what people say to me on the web, but I would never let a guy get away with calling me any of those in person. I have more self respect than that. Likewise, I would never disrespect another guy by calling him that either. I realize I am probably alone in this opinion, but that's just me.

But then I got to the "no anal sex" part and laughed. Sorry, I like to fuck. And the guys I fuck like to be fucked. Sometimes I take the dominant role with them, and sometimes not. If these "G0ys" say that fucking is always one man dominating another, then I feel sorry for them. They have obviously never had the pleasure of having some tender gentle NON dominant anal sex with another man they care about. They are missing out. Their loss.

http://g0ys.org/whosentyou.htmWhat is your take on these guys? Self-loathing gays? J

Pretty much my take on them.

Re: The gOy Movement

I disagree with the characterization of those described by the g0y site. But it's complicated.

First, the totality of that profile is too specific. There are men who reject anal. There are men who reject effeminate behavior. There are men who reject assumed black diva personas with the ghetto lingo. There are men who espouse philosophic virtue of equality in the partners. But all of these isms do not necessarily converge. If they do for the g0y faithful, then it will be a very few indeed.

What is true is that the oft promoted and sometimes adopted stereotype of Western gay men has been a problem to a great number of men. They obviously felt like the trope depicted in media and in some gay social circles was not representative of them. As time progresses and we find less opposition to out gays in Western societies, we will continue to see the erosion of the effeminate gay as the defining example in media. It already is displace in urban cultures, but remains in the broader population, especially among straight average Joe's who have no gay friends and little knowledge of the diversity of gay populations.

It's too egocentric to dismiss the dissenters as self-hating. And it's disrespectful. There are plenty of men whose chief sexual activity is not anal sex, but oral or other. There are plenty of men who don't enjoy being feminized, and it's not fear, it's self-perception. There are plenty of men who reject the notion of tops or bottoms as defining limits in sexual congress.

What we should be busy about in our time is the promotion of the spectrum of gay identities being represented, which includes those like g0y who may not even be respectful of that same diversity. It is important for the world to see and get to know the diversity of men who are gay. If you're tempted to remain part of the silent majority of gay men, remember that your silence is a big factor in the straight world's misperception of our numbers and our true composition, as diverse as theirs.

Fair enough. Better to be g0y than in the closet.

My only issue concerns their branding of butt sex as "unnatural". People have been putting stuff up their ass long before Adam and Steve had their first sword fight. I didn't read anything beyond the home page, but I wonder if they view effeminate men and those who exist somewhere within the gender blender with the same borderline disdain. It seems their view of gay culture is based more on disapproval than separatism.

Re: The gOy Movement

Nothing wrong with the gay experience being diverse because it is diverse... there should never be one way to be gay. But you have to respect some men are more fem, most of us like anal to some degree, and fem men of color in particular have been instrumental in the fight for ALL of us in the gay community... there are a number of gays who wouldn't fit for the most part, or even at all, among the stereotypes and they're just as much a part of the community too. The gay community is not monolithic, we are just united in our love and attraction on physical and emotional levels for other men and fighting for our basic rights for equality under the law. To have jobs and to be able to marry and to be treated with dignity and respect as persons in our lives. We can be masculine, feminine, in between, ass loving, oral, frotting, dancing, non dancing, show tune loving, rock, classical, country...fashion loving, fashion hating... doesn't matter. I love basketball, baseball...I like show tunes and LOVE dance music(but not to the point of being campy) but I don't dance well and I don't have fashion sense and while I like some of the divas who are gay icons I'm not THAT into them that I worship them. But I respect and would fight for the right of anyone who is gay to be treated with dignity and respect and have the same basic rights as straight people. Everyone, no exceptions.

Re: The gOy Movement

G0ys probably represent the majority of gay guys I hang with. We are just regular, every day guys who just happen to like guys, so screeching, no high heels, no wigs, no dislike of women, no agenda, just out, regular guys.

Re: The gOy Movement

I'm very sorry guys.

My relationships with men is on a different wavelength.
What you look like dissolves as soon as you start speaking - men with minds that span the human experience, from the sub-atomic to the interstellar, and I'm happy.

I live for conversations about all kinds of stuff with guys eager to share opinions - live and in real time.

Here's a video example:

This is my big issue with them.

They are trying to project their own hang-ups and issues with sexual identity and practices on an entire collective with their sniffing disapproval of people who aren't just like them.

Most of them are probably damaged, bottled up closet queens with guilt issues.

Re: The gOy Movement

So now gays project mental illness on those who are not as gay as the status quo? Nice.

Perhaps we all come with baggage.
I've adopted the same policy as "Jay's Come As You Are Grill & Bar", store your baggage and share your interests.
