Did you see it?
O H M Y G O D
:rotflmao: First he wants to to disband and split Switzerland, now THIS :rotflmao:
I mean .. yep .. he did have a few valid points .. but still :rotflmao: This guy is better than comedy.

I doubt that ... quote:

"Obama is a glimpse in the darkness after four or eight years, we are content and happy if Obama can stay forever as president of the United States."

I heard the translation with the original audio on the BBC. It seemed the translator couldn't believe the words he was saying because he kept correcting himself. The rapid fire effect of the two of them jabbering made it seem histeric and feverish. It was a bit like comedy. I had read parts of the speech after because I was so amused I couldnt follow it live.

^^ It is hard to hear a madman praise our President. At least Obama is reaching his target audience.

The sad thing is that he had a few valid points, but his rage, and all the other funny stuff with more comedic value than anything else pretty much made you forget about them.
I'm pretty sure he is still pissed that Switzerland was not dissolved because they dared to question his son hitting the maids.

The respect yes...the adoration ...NO. A man is not called "Our Son" out of respect...that is out of kinship or a thought of it

Bullshit. They consider him one of their own. They don't respect him, they see him as a way for their own ends to be accomplished.

I WANT TO SEE HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!!!! AND NO FOOL, A "CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH," IS NOT A BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!!!

You know he's a dirty Muslim right? Those dirty muslims have been planing to put him in the White(Christian©) House for over 40 years. You see how sneaky they are.

I bet the gays had something to do with it too.

I'd be open to that possibility if it Obama's surging popularity was restricted to Africa, but it isn't. Obama commands respect across the world, a fact you may not like. Just ask anyone here not living in the US, they will only confirm it.

What does his popularity have anything to do with this. Popularity =/= respect.

This man, and his ilk, do not respect Obama. They see an opportunity to get what they couldn't while Bush was in office, and they're using it.

Hmmm, so Obama is the favorite of Gaddafi (dictator/president for life) - who wants him to be president for life, Fidel Castro, who is dictator/president for life of Cuba, and Hugo Chavez, who is dictator/president for life of Venezuela. Maybe Obama wants to change Article II of the US Constitution.

Is this the love of the world we were missing during the Bush Admin?

Today, according to Obama, we are no longer a superpower -- we are the same as Bangladesh and Costa Rica. My question - when do we start getting foreign aid?

Respect for Obama is a worldwide phenomenon, as is his popularity. You are fighting a losing war trying to deny that.

You're failing to see a distinction here. Popularity does not equal respect. There is no doubt in my mind that this man has zero respect for Obama. All he sees is a weak empty suit that will not stand in his way when he tries to get what he wants.

It doesn't matter how popular Obama is, or how much certain leaders respect him. This man is not among them.

SO you respect Paris Hilton? She is very popular.

Explanation doesnt wash.

You would desire that he is drawing them in with respect. He is not. They see a world stage that they can exploit.

On the other hand I like his strategy though I doubt it has anything to do with giving away the kingdom or his feeling he reigns respect. Obama is gonna flip the table. He is gonna welcome them into the world stage on his level and then use it against them when they fail to act. Or at least fail to act in the manner he desires. I doubt it will work. They are not as vulnerable to opinion as our politicians. The madmen of the world simply kill their detractors. So really no pressure to be applied. Yet I still like the fresh approach. At least it will serve as an example of what doesnt work to the future.

Can you please provide a cite quoting Obama as saying the US isn't a superpower? Rest assured that I'll remind you, should you fail to do so. Thank you.

Here you go Aflie --- I bolded the text and gave you more than just that quote -- and I got it form a source you would believe.

"Responsibility and leadership in the 21st century demand more. In an era when our destiny is shared, power is no longer a zero sum game. No one nation can or should try to dominate another nation. No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed. No balance of power among nations will hold. The traditional division between nations of the south and north makes no sense in an interconnected world. Nor do alignments of nations rooted in the cleavages of a long gone Cold War.

The time has come to realize that the old habits and arguments are irrelevant to the challenges faced by our people. They lead nations to act in opposition to the very goals that they claim to pursue, and to vote - often in this body - against the interests of their own people. They build up walls between us and the future that our people seek, and the time has come for those walls to come down. Together, we must build new coalitions that bridge old divides - coalitions of different faiths and creeds; of north and south, east and west; black, white, and brown."

I'm still amazed what this forum can turn into an Obama/American politics discussion.

I rest my case.

Well you know we Americans are certain that everything orbits around ourselves. We expect all the rest of you not only to be extremely familiar and conversant about our politics, but our political system, as well as all the historical anecdotes and examples we routinely throw out in here. WE are the Americans after all.

Don’t think that means we know anything about your politics and history – except where it impacts us - because that would be silly.

LOL, well, I have to say that I’m kinda surprised that the rest of you haven’t posted a:

"Why are Americans so self involved.”

Type thread.

We would love that, it would be all about us.

Corny - you wanna talk about Merkel? I was surprised that Forbes magazine named her the world most powerful woman in the world again - but there hasn't been a woman leader as strong as her since Margaret Thatcher.

Almost forgot -- I think Kadafi is an idiot. The UN Secretary General should have cut his speech off earlier. However, I was impressed that he didn't use a teleprompter or rely to heavily on notes.

Obama has both with respect and popularity with the US not with the world. Don't be naive.

I would love an all about us forum. JK

Things do devolve around here into America....I would point out that ths happened in America....so there.

Finally, I was not amazed that he did it without notes. He rambled like an idiot. Any fool can accomplish that. He mentioned everything from Lee Harvey to Jet Lag. Yes indeed. The words of a genius.

Let me see if I can get it back to on topic.
I wonder how many Red Chief tablets and red crayons he used to write his speech. The man is nuts.

No, I wanted to talk about the lunatic Gadaffi. Or maybe not so lunatic. Well hidden behind his big theater he had some valid points.

Let me see if I can get it back to on topic.

At least time he didn't have a funny picture on his chest :)
