Gallup shows race tightening

Thank you justapixel for warning Obama supporters not to be complacent and to leave nothing to the unexpected.

Kenny,

Getting anger off your chest is always a good thing in my book. And you know I share your contempt for the terrible things the GOP has done and for the destructive agenda many of them stand for. You've been here -- you know how I've gone after them, and I haven't changed my opinions about those things one bit.

My point is that Republicans didn't own America then and Democrats don't own it now. And going from one group that disrespects and dismisses the opposition as if they don't exist or don't have a right to exist, to another group that does the same thing will not be good for us. Not for Democrats, not for Republicans, and not for the United States.

If, at some point, the group that's been walked on and then gains power doesn't demonstrate some fairness, some generosity, some respect for the truth, we're just going to continue downward.

America does not hate Republicans. Half of America IS Republicans. America is not a unified entity hating one group of people, and I think we'll all be better off if we recognize we all own a piece of America and if we keep on hating pieces of what we're a part of we're going to destroy it.

>>>It seems the rest of them are very concerned about ACORN,Ayers and Socialism. You know, the real issues.

Whatever it takes.

In 2000, Al Gore was about to utterly destroy the American economy for the sake of a bunch of lies written by a bunch of greedy, grant-seeking "scientists". The Republicans saved America just in the nick.

In 2004, Kerry was about to hand America to the terrorists, and sacrifice the traditional American family on the altar of depraved homosexuality. Once again, the Republicans saved America just in the nick.

In 2008, Obama's on the verge of turning America into a socialst, despotic country which cozies up to terrorists, and "non-believers" are shipped off to "re-education" camps to learn how much better America is under the "new regime" of "the state everything, the individual nothing".

Will the Republicans save America yet again? Stay tuned.

>>>You get your news from me.

I have to. You're the only unbiased source I've ever found.

^^ I believe with a nation like the US, people of differing viewpoints coming together and hashing out solutions is the best way. Someone has to be in power, in control, and it's up to them to set the tone and the boundaries and be the ultimate decision maker. But the more ideas the better, and the more that people feel considered and respected, the better. (That said, there are some who have earned no respect and are nothing more than problem-makers, and of course it's important to recognize who they are and keep a close watch.)

I hope Democrats do it better than Republicans have but judging from what I've seen I'm not optimistic. Unchecked power is very tricky and the problems facing us are complicated -- just look at the economic crisis and the $800 billion bailout bill that's already showing signs of being the bad bill I said it was. As I've been saying for a while now, I'm very concerned that Obama/Pelosi/Reid et al with a filibuster proof majority is going to end up being filed in the DNC vaults of history under Be Careful What You Wish For.

I'm sure the OP is going to update this but just in case:

As has been mentioned here Gallup does three versions of tracking polls every day. This is the most conservative traditional likely voter model and has Obama up 8 today. The other likely voter poll has Obama up 9. The registered voter one has him up 11.
