I've concluded I'm socially (or culturally?) stunted. I don't understand 'trends'...the song isn't even in English, why is it so popular? Then I had to look at it from a sociological perspective...are people mocking East Asian culture and embracing stereotypes due to the video? I just think too much.

It has an interesting beat but it's generic. Could have been an LMFAO song in English yet wouldn't have been as 'big', in my opinion.

The video did the trick.
without the video, this song wouldn't be this popular.

never seen it, and never heard more than a short clip of it.

I think you'll find that Michael Jackson was big in South Korea, and yet the songs weren't in Korean.

Americans were entrenched in Korea during MJs era? Doesn't apply, Koreans (therefore the Korean language) don't have the ability/influence Americans (ergo, English) have on foreign culture.

I suppose it doesn't matter...no one will remember his name this time next year and in another year or so someone else will break his YouTube record. 'Tis the ever-evolving life of the Internet.

Yes, and they're popular in Korea. This man doesn't have a hit in America outside of this song...and I doubt he ever will after the whole "Let's all murder Americans" fiasco a week or so back.

And this one, he should make an English version:

I like it because it annoys the shit out of hipsters.
