Opening in limited release next weekend is the film Skills Like This, a comedy about a failed playwright who turns to robbing banks. If you go see the film, look for a brief cameo (but in close-up) of the gargoyle in the role of "office worker on phone eavesdropping over cubicle wall".

I promise not to forget you when I'm rich and famous. :)

Will you be signing autographs?

As far as I could tell the gargoyle was not in the trailer. But the movie does look kinda interesting! And I believe the little brother from the 4400 is in it, too :)

Once I sell forty autographs, yes, you can have the two hundred. (Only if you promise to never put the dollar sign after the number again...)

When was this filmed? I don't remember seeing anything about it.

I remember there was a huge deal when that Eddie Murphy film shot in Denver.

>>>Are there any photos of you in the movie?

I sincerely doubt it. My scene took all of two hours to film (which was a surprise to all concerned - they had planned for eight). In addition, the scene features the two friends of the main character, rather than the main character himself. (They're going into the workplace of one of them...I believe to quit. Before he can, the boss praises his work.)

I honestly had to go back and find the old e-mail setting up time and place - my scene was filmed in June 2006. I believe the film premiered at SXSW in Austin in March 2007. The filming didn't attract much attention at the time, probably because most of the cast and crew were local.

Aaah, I see. I was not here at the time, so I missed any rumblings about it. Thanks.

I might have to go see it. I love movies filmed on locations that I know. :D It is really fun trying to place locales.

It is even more fun when there's some Directorial License in locations. There's a movie that was shot 50 years ago in the U.P. (and they STILL talk about it)...Anatomy of a Murder. It was filmed on location but hilarious to those of us familiar with the locations. There's one scene there Jimmy Stewart goes through a door in the Courthouse into the 'Law Library'. Those of us that have been there know that door goes into the Women's Restroom, and the 'Law Library' is actually the Carnegie Library 12 miles away. :D

I know the feeling. They filmed (of all things) Teen Wolf 2 at my college. The scenes in the library made us laugh, since that isn't the library - it's the dining hall!

You presumably won't be able to tell, but my scene was shot inside the Waste Water Management Center - the castle-looking structure near I-25 & 6th.

OK, hold tight. This story is pretty hot!

I did sound design for a children's play about a year before this all happened. The director of the play liked my work, and so put me on his e-mail list. He ended up getting the job on the movie set as...well, I don't recall the exact title, but basically, he had to round up extras for scenes. And I got an e-mail from him explaining what he needed. It ended "If you're interested, please e-mail a recent photo and let me know your schedule." I figured he had meant to send it to his actor friends, and I had gotten it on accident. So, as a joke, I sent him a photo of me waving with a lacrosse player, and said "Here's me. Let me know when to show up on the set." To my surprise, he wrote back, "OK, how about next Tuesday?"

...sorry, did I say "pretty hot"? I meant "pretty boring".
