Look I don't know... yeah in my time I've encountered people who dissed me because of my ethnicity, but then again I've met a lot of people who liked me for who I am. Yeah, some were rice queens and there were a few who had never even been with Asians before. In fact, many guys actually like me for my winning personality and likable wacky sense of humor! Go figure huh?

I've bonded with many people over shared interests in movies and music, etc etc... I guess maybe it's because I don't go out to clubs or do the 'online' thing that often where it's initially just based upon face pics or physical preferences. People usually get to know me first through likes and dislikes.

I love Asian guys, but believe it or not - you'd be surprised at how many Asians are self-hating or want nothing to do with other Asians, as I'm sure there are plenty of white dudes or black dudes who want nothing to do with their own ethnicity. I don't think of it so much as racism, but moreso personal preference. I've had my fair share of run-ins with Asian bitches who won't give me the time of day (not that I give two shits) and those who just don't want competition. There are a lot of nasty people out there in the gay community, you just learn to ignore them. But there are also a lot of good ones too, and those ones are the ones who aren't haters.

I'm pretty much open to all walks of life (all races, bears, chubby, etc), but I'm not into transsexuals, feminine twinks, feminine ANYTHING or bitches. If anything, the type I seem to attract are college-aged kids or anti-social weirdos with bizarre horror film interests such as myself and I'm happy with that :) It's not often when I get a 50+ white dude after me, but like I said, I'm not really into the club/online scene so I haven't opened myself up for that.

I'm not attracted to skinny, dark-skinned, twinky, feminine, bitchy-looking Asian queens either (and there are plenty of those). I love Japanese and Korean men with facial hair *woof*

I would agree with the OP in his statement that Asians are ranked near the bottom in the gay community when it comes to ethnic/physical preferences. It's a fact, but hey, what can we do about it. Such is life eh?

I respect your way of meeting people. I think a lot of people can definitely follow your precidence.

However, I don't think anyone one in this thread was talking about any form of prejudice or hating, as you put it, despite what a few repliers have probably lead you to believe. We were, however, discussing specifically why certain people have a preference or non-preference for the asian race, and why Asians need be considered a "fetish".

Also, we did discuss the fact that certain people of a race don't have a preference for others of his or her own race.

I would agree with the OP in his statement that Asians are ranked near the bottom in the gay community when it comes to ethnic/physical preferences. It's a fact, but hey, what can we do about it.

Oh, there's lots we can indeed do! We can start by creating discussions about the subject matter here. Once we change minds here, we can go out to the world to talk to other people. Small steps create large paths for change. :)

Sadly, for some of us asian gay guys, we've experienced more of the dissing than the warm experiences that you so mentioned. I guess it depends on the region of your location. Maybe Providence, Rhode Island is a much better place for an asian gay guy to find a date in the U. S. than San Luis Obispo, California is. ;)
 
Yeah I apologize, I read the OP's first post and the subsequent posts on the first page, and then decided to reply.

See the thing about changing minds is that it's not that easy. You can't just convince someone who's not attracted to Asian to suddenly become attracted. I'll be honest, I don't see too many hot Asians around Providence RI. However I'm totally swept off my feet if I go visit Japan because man they are EVERYWHERE! All walks of life, young, small, bearish... lots of hotties! If Asians had more positive representation than the stylized bitches that I see out at the clubs with colored contacts, spiky hair, low V-necks and attitude, then maybe we would have a better reputation.

I'm not saying this is indicative of all gay Asians at the club, but when I've been out in Boston or here in Providence, that's pretty much the round up of Asians that you get.

It's true, I've gone out in NYC many times and the selection of guys is much broader than here. It goes with the territory of any big city compared to a smaller city.

And that laughable "small dick" stereotype we got slapped with... yeah, there's probably a good deal of Asians with smaller-than-average dicks, but you'd be surprised at how many white dudes have just as small dicks as well. It doesn't bother me in the least, but you and I would be fooling ourselves if we were to believe that "dick size emphasis" does not play a HUGE role in the gay community.

I believe if Asians had the same stigma as black men (ie. having a huge dick) - then Asians wouldn't be so low on the totem pole. It's not just about how we look, it's this unfortunate stereotype that we also got stuck with as well. But hey, if you don't want me because you think that I have a small dick then it's no skin off my backside :)
