Gay Asian Fetish

Well that's true, but you can't deny that there are a lot of people who are stubborn as mules and believe any stereotype that is affixed to a certain culture.

I just find it ridiculous to go running around trying to convince people that Asians are human and we have feelings too! If you're that ignorant in believing in stupid stereotypes, then so be it.
 
I posted an entire post in this thread regarding stereotypes, very much related to what you're speaking about.

Porn does seem to play a bigger role in shaping sex-culture and pop-culture than many of us would like to admitt...it is a major factor in shaping stereotypes. As you said, in [porn videos], these asian guys are disproportionately femme. If I may also add, not only are they mostly twinks, they're also all hairless! And now, these are the "official" stereotype of asian guys (however unconscious) in the western gay community. Whoever doesn't fit in the stereotypes is considered "an exception". (even though there are more asian guys who have many traits outside the stereotype. I guess in the webster dictionary, we should re-define the figure of exception to around 55%. lol)

And it doesn't end there. Now, with these new stereotypes, other porn industries go out to search for the very asians who fit the 'asian stereotype' and reject those who do not. With this representation of asian guys in these newer videos, the original stereotype is only re-enforced. See the endless cycle?

For many gays of whom I've encountered, they'd make fun of the fact that I'm asian and that I'm hairy. Some even show a sarcastic smile and a subtle face of disgust ('What?? A HAIRY asian??'). That goes to say, if the hairless asian twink is not bad enough, now we have something even worse for these guys: a hairy asian semi-stud!!!!

The reason I'm rehashing this post is to make one point: I'm convinced that these stereotypes which you bring up has quite a bit to do with the portrayals done by porn. These portrayals can be very mis-leading at times. For example, who ever said that asian men, by definition, has small dicks? That was the image fed westerners by the porn that were available to them. I just thought I mention this.

See the thing about changing minds is that it's not that easy. You can't just convince someone who's not attracted to Asian to suddenly become attracted.

You're right, it's not. And changing minds doesn't work that way. What we can do, however, is cause them to question the factors that may have caused them to have certain perceptions about asians. (for example, as you say, do all asians have small dicks? What may have made certain people think that?) And, it takes time. Changing minds indeed don't happen overnight. But with a focused and determined mind, it will happen. And, even the "stubborn mules" will change their minds in time; they are simply the slower ones to do so. Now, of course, we can't pursuade everyone. That goal is unrealistic. However, we can pursuade many people, and that is enough for a social evolution to be possible. :)
 
Thanks Level, you are indeed spot on about our bad representation in porn. I've seen very FEW Asian men in Western porn. The ones I have seen were twinks, or not very attractive. You can find a lot of hot Japanese porn (but it's not widely available to Westerners unless you download all your shit).

It seems like Japanese porn services both masculine men, young jocks, older men, bears and twinks... while Thai porn mainly specializes in ladyboys and feminine-looking dark-skinned types that appeal to a particular demographic.

Even in Western straight porn, Asian men are almost non-existent, although one Asian dude recently launched a website called shelovesasiancock.com (LOL), which is a start. The guy isn't that particularly hot, but his dick isn't tiny and at least he's trying.

I think a good deal of Asian stereotyping comes from the club scene though... to be honest. Unless I was specifically looking for Asian porn from Japan or Asia, living in the US and with a scarcity of Asian representation in Western porn, most exposure would have had to come from the 'scene' dontcha think?
If we used ignorance as an excuse to refrain from sharing information, we might as well burn down all the schools, science labs, libraries, computers, telephones, etc... cuz we're all ignorant anyway.

I'm open to at least helping the cause to change minds, but seriously, unless someone starts releasing Western Asian porn with hot guys out there or rounding up Asians who aren't queens or feminine to hit the club scene, how do you propose we fix this stereotype?

Us? LOL, I don't know... it just kinda happened one day? Were Asians out in the scene always known as being flamboyant and feminine? Most people don't think of us Asians being masculine at all, and I can see why! There are lots of feminine Asians out and about, maybe it's just the ones I see here in Providence and Boston. They certainly outnumber the masculine ones I see, and that's a fact Jack. How about out where you are?
 
Well Said King...I love Asian guys especially Filipinoes....never been interested in white guys/Blackguys or latinoes.....I think I'm just racist...or maybe I just really PREFER Asian men......BUT hey we cant be hating right? There are a lot of haters out there that wants all gay people to go out in ashes....

There is a small but prominent group of people that "fetishizes" Non-East Asians, or the lost people from the forgotten part of the continent. I have been approached before, by both men and women, who had expressed sexual affection towards my race.

I have several theories as to why there are such fetishes:

1) They love the culture.
2) They believe that certain stereotypes associated with that race can provide sexual satisfaction for them.
3) Growing up with the said race. I live in a predominately East Asian society -- I often see myself deep in love and in a relationship with either an East Asian or a South Asian. Interestingly enough, I can't related to the whole white American college frat guy obsession.

You would be surprised. I have Asians telling me I'm not Asian because apparently, to be Asian, you have to be East Asian. Not even a map will convince them.

The only problem with this guy who you're showing pics of is that he looks to have more facial features that more closely resemble caucasian features, especially his eyes. I don't think he's fully asian; he looks partly hispanic/latino.

Nothing wrong with that, of course. I'm just saying, he may not be the best representation of a 'hot asian stud'.
 
Well to contribute to this thread in my own way. I love asian men. A lot of them are quite beautiful and the bodies can just be beautiful.

I don't see them as fetishes though. I could that this thread was going down a dark path the instant I read this thread.

I still don't know the "asian" look is as defined as some might say it is. Fuck we are talking about like 1/3 of the world. It is my understanding some asian men are sensitive about there eyes. DON'T be.
Not to bring up a soar subject but what are the other asian men body image hot buttons?
