Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

seems counterproductive. aren't we fighting for acceptance? if the situation were inversed we'd be pressed.

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

Difficult. On the one hand I agree with fabulouslyghetto. We want inclusion, right? So we should offer it. On the other hand, I know how ridiculously annoying it can be when over 75% of the people in a gay bar are straight women. Sorta defeats the purpose.

Difficult.

Didn't we already devote a trainwreck thread to this topic a few months ago?

I brought my popcorn anyways. :corn:

I don't think Jasana is on, it's gonna be boring without her woman-hating ass.

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

I'm all for it.

most women bacholerette parties I've witnessed. women get so hammered and do some crazy shit and are in their bras and do so many stupid shit they would not do in a straight club.

they do it with the idea that they are "safer" in a gay club. matter of fact, it's not. and there are still some creepy straight guys who take advantage of such opportunities and it's not safe overall.

beside the fact that it traumatizes us gay people. if I wanted to go see boobs bouncing and crazy chicks yeling and screaming, I'd go to a straight club, thx.

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

I've never had trouble with bachelorette parties at gay bars and clubs. Oddly, they cause more havoc at the burlesque shows I've attended...

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

there is this one bar here in town, an institution really that has changed because of the bachelorettes. it started with their parties and now on the weekends you see more straights than gays. its a slippery slope when you choose not to allow them entrance but on the other hand you see clubs and bars lose their identity and their core clientele moving on to other venues..

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

I've seen bachelorette parties at gay bars in Atlanta and Charleston, SC - and they were actually really fun!

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

I think it's fair. If the trend were reversed and a bunch of gay guys threw several bacheor parties, or even just regular parties, at a straight club and started making a scene- making out with each other, drinking and screaming and making a mess and molesting the female dancers cuz it was "no big deal"- the straight people would put a stop to that in aheart beat. Do I think its an important step towards gay rights? No. Do I think its a horrible detriment to equality? No. I think its about as equal as we can get right now. My friends got turned away from a club because the bouncer thought they might have been lesbians. I think it's only fair that we treat them the same......also, those bitches are annoying.

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

The legal female equivalent of a male batchelor is a 'spinster'.

Ipso facto : spinster party.

The business is not an arm of the state, it can choose its clientele as it pleases, as long as it's within the law.

Best hold those things on Dyke night, methinks.

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

How is this ban actually enforced or is it more for just show?

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

I go to gay bars to meet gay men... not to see a big crowd of loud, drunken women in silly outfits screaming and pawing at all the men saying things like "you're such a waste" or "I love gay men.. it's like.. I can come here and not get hit on" as if "not getting hit on" was the goal of everyone in the bar.

Anything that keeps those people out of my way... I'm all for it.

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

I can't help liking the bar's owner. He's got balls and you gotta respect that.

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

You made the mistake of just putting bachelorette in the search box. Jasun's was something like "Vagina wielding cunts now have no place to gawk at gay men and call them sad" or something to that affect.

:D

I think it was "women not welcome in Chicago Gay Bars."

But your version is more colourful.

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

No, I don't believe in imposing prior restraint on the women. Yes, it is nice to have some venues that are exclusively male, just so we can occasionally get our "Double Y Chromo - Homo" action on unobserved, but you don't force that outcome by banning people.

You draw the clientele you desire by creating an atmosphere that appeals to them and not to others. If you've got a club playing "la la" disco type club music and serving pretty, pink, orange, and blue "party" cocktails, of course you'll get hordes of broads.

If you want an all male clientele, you'll have to create an atmosphere of "danger," darkness, and grittiness.

But no banning the women (unless there sex going on there).

Re: Gay Bars Ban Bachelorette Parties

Does Chicago have a strip club just for ladies? I never got an answer in the other thread. Or the answer disappeared when the thread got locked.
