2 things I've read. Grant's daughter (late in life, Dyan Cannon is her mom) says though they never discussed it (not surprising) she wouldn't rule it out. Last year she wrote a fond memoir about hers & her father's relationship.

Some of you, I'm sure know who George Burns was. In his last book, he mentions knowing Grant back in the 1920s. Burns was married to Gracie Allen, they lived @ the time in "Bohemian" Greenwich Village. Grant had immigrated from England, was an out of work actor, doing sandwich board ads & working @ Coney Island. According to Burns, Grant lived with a man who became a designer*. Their friends knew they were a couple. Only in the 30s, after Grant became popular (especially with women) did Grant pop back in the closet, @ the studio's command. That's when Grant & then Scott married women.
