Hi Jubbers
I am planning a winter get away to Costa Rica and thought I'd ask for some advice on where to go.
I know that the main gay area is in San José, but I'd rather spend time on the beaches and exploring the Jungles
Not looking for the all inclusive hedonistic spas, just gay friendly natural experiences.
Thanks for your input
and if there are any costa Rican jubbers, please let me know!!

I have been to Costa Rica many times. It is a really nice place.I know a site where you can find about gay places not only in San jose, but all around the country.

I don't have it right now,but when I am home I will look for it in my bookmarks and edit this post.

:-)

Thanks guys
Perhaps you could comment on this:
Also on the coast, and not far from San Jose is the surfing town of Jaco, which also boasts several resorts and a few very stylish hotels. While still gay friendly, neither Guanacaste nor Jaco have that “gay enclave” feel like Quepos and Manuel Antonio.
I am not looking for Key west or palm springs, so is Quepos still unspoiled?

Someone told me once that he could not think of a country that is more welcoming of Americans than Costa Rica--- have you guys found that to be true??

It is very welcoming, the problem is that here we don't have any distinctions of suburbs and downtown, here you can get robbed practically anywhere if you are alone in the night, and I know for experience that there are tons of foreigners that come and don't really pay attention to that and then they get robbed and throw a fit about it. We rent rooms at my house for foreign students and believe me we've seen a lot of stuff through out the years.
If you are careful then it will go just fine.

Definitely recommend a visit to Arenal (it's a live volcano). The Tabacon Resort Hot Springs fed by Arenal is a must...you can hang out in the hot springs, get a massage, and watch the lava flow in at the top.
