Gay Doctor murdered in West Hollywood

It is an important local story---any gruesome murder is--- but would not be covered nationally or here in NYC local news---but it would have been a big local news story for sure. And something tells me it was a big local LA news story. It goes to what I have always thought, it's so important to really see the true character of the person you partner with. It is one of the most important decisions you make in life.

^This West Hollywood murder reminds of an American friend living in Athens for many years, who has since retired to New York who had picked up a "stray" Syrian Kurd for an over night encounter....the following morning Steve invited the Kurd to join him for coffee, and rolls at a local cafe, overlooking a busy central Athens roundabout.....towards the end of their breakfast a police car siren was heard....the police car stopped at the kerb directly in front of the cafe with two officers alighting....who proceeded to handcuff the Kurd......and take him away...one of the two police officers informed Steve that the Kurd was being sought for murdering a fellow Kurd the previous day....

The event/story isn't worthy of greater attention. Someone was killed by his jealous lover, the authorities arrested the murderer, that's it.

Race, gender, sexual orientation, occupation...............all irrelevant, there's no reason to believe these variables were the cause/reason for the murder.

Why are you so concerned...neither one was white, masculine, republicans?

damn!...

I just stepped into a JQ thread

th

And I can smell it on your shoe all the way over here.

too bad he couldn't read people, RIP

yeah exactly, there was a well known gay doctor in NYC who was also smart and popular and he partied hard, hung out with lot's of borderline people, had lot's of sex with them, did tons of drugs and OD'ed and died ---

The story is tragic and may he R.I.P. But did you share this story because you just really cared, or did you also have a bit of your own agenda, JQ?

Am I the only one who is more shocked by the fact that an Asian Medical Doctor was dating a Black Man in Westhollywood? The Snow Queens within the Asian community is epidemic. Anyhoo, this is still a very gruesome and tragic act.

Love ain't suppose to hurt baby.

wow...this is horrific. :##: I just do not get people sometimes.

I admit, i was very surprised by that.

Tragic for sure ....but isn't this just another crime of passion? Neighborhood looks dumpy btw.

I think I would top myself if I had to live there...

JayQueer, a troll long overdue to have his privileges removed from posting. Only JayQueer would take a newsworthy post and make wild partisan, racist accusations against black people, white people, and Democrats. This is the same troll who drools over stereotyped images of white men while looking down on other men of color. This is also the same troll who praises everything Republican, but criticizes anything "liberal" or Democrat inspired. Note his unnecessary mention of marriage equality, as if this murder was somehow a reason not to allow gay men and women to marry.

My condolences to the families involved in this tragic murder. Domestic violence affects the gay community as much as it does the heterosexuals.

My agenda, at least in this thread is to highlight the dangers of domestic violence. When people think about domestic violence they think about battered women or wives. But people ignore that men can be victims of domestic violence, especially gay men.

From my read of the article & comments from those who knew him personally, Dr. Ma was unhappy in his relationship with Andre. He used to be popular & social but Andre was jealous of Dr. Ma's friends. Dr. Ma told his friends he was thinking about breaking up with Andre.

The article I read didn't say what Andre did for a living. Maybe Andre was jealous that Dr. Ma was really successful in his career and he was ready to move on & end the relationship. This is speculation on my part but maybe Dr. Ma told Andre that he wanted out of the relationship but Andre wasn't going to let that happen ("if I can't have you, then nobody will")

There is very little support for men (gay or straight) who are the victims of domestic violence. Shelters and assistance programs only cover women. If there is anything positive that could come out of this tragedy, maybe it could be that we need to be vigilant of domestic violence & get more support for male victims of rape & domestic violence.

Shame on you for making personal attacks on me. But then again, that's your modus operandi.

I posed valid questions. I want to know why this story was not covered widely, at least by the lgbt media. And yes, I stand by my view that stories that bring negative attention to the gay community are simply suppressed by the lgbt media out of fear that it will make us look bad to straight people (when we are waging a PR campaign for legalizing same-sex marriage). That's why stories about domestic violence within the gay community are usually ignored.

I don't need your permission for my political views. Last time I checked, I'm free to be a Republican if I so choose. About 25% of gay men are Republicans, so I'm clearly not alone.

^Why don't you 2 just go over to CEP and have a catfight there? Why whip up politics in a thread that has nothing to do with bicameral bull shit. I can't stand Republicans or Democrats anyway. Bunch of whiners.

So...ignore the above link. It highlights what I don't like Queerty. This link now links to different article than when I copied it.

Charming. You mention bringing awareness for domestic violence for men and women alike. But in your OP you bring up the predictable race issue. This is not a race problem. It is a domestic violence problem that got out of hand. The fact that the parties involved were Asian and black are happenstance.

To be fair JayQueer, you're OP brings racism and media bias into the arguement, with minimal mention of domestic violence. You preface your questions with wondering why the media didn't big up the story and the first things you mention as to why is race; the victim of the murder was asian, the murder African American.

You then throw out domestic violence, not as an important part of the post, but as a reason it wasn't picked up due to imaginary effects of domestic violence on gay marriage equality.

Your premise is that the media didn't care about the murder because neither victim nor murderer were blonde haired and blue eyed. That's got nothing to do with domestic violence.

Shame you on you for using a story like this to push your shitty little agenda on a message board. As already stated no where in the beginning of the thread you were even "highlighting the dangers of domestic violence." No one is buying your bullshit, so stop trying to sell it.
