This my be off topic, but it is gamer related.
I was on PS3 voice chat with a friend, and he invited another guy on. The new guy claimed to be a hacker, and told us what our state and Internet providers were.
How did he get this info, and how do I prevent others from finding it?
It's nothing to worry about, he wasn't a hacker. Hackers don't use PSN to talk about their activities because everything is monitored.
As for the information he knew, it's very easy to find out someones internet provider and location. You can get small flash items for forum signatures which will scan who ever is looking at your signature and will create a custom signature for that person which will say something along the lines of
Your Internet Provider is ********
Your I.P is ***********
Downloading your porn folder
Of course it's not actually downloading anything from your computer it's just something to make people feel paranoid (who ever actually believes it)
I wish I knew... but thanks for providing me with another reason not to get a PS3 when I move, because I simply can't trust it.
You talk as if the PS3 is a living entity. If you want somewhere to place your mistrust try placing it on hackers who purposely attempt to break into networks and steal information. The PS3 plays games, it doesn't steal information.
I've been watching my roommate play LA Noire. Rockstar has never really done it for me, though Red Dead Redemption was pretty incredible.
Rockstar didn't make L.A Noir, Team Bondi did.
Not playing it (not my kinda game) but one of my collegues worked on it. It's quite nuts how much of it they've had to cut out due to legality issues. There was meant to be a rape investigation case involving a 10 year old girl which obviously got entirely snipped out from the game.
Most of the content cut was because of the Xbox360's limitations, it shipped on 3 discs for the 360 but was originally on 6 discs. Luckily for gamers however they are getting the cut content as DLC. Whereas the content cut from GrandTheftAutoIV and Final Fantasy XIII because of the Xbox360, will never see the light of day.
My most favorite PS2 game was probably Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
I was going to post something for you but apparently i don't have enough posts.
Go onto youtube and copy and paste this -
GTA IV San Andreas (San Andreas in GTA IV) [PC MOD]
It will show you a video someone has made of San Andreas recreated using GTAIV's RAGE engine.
