Hey, I'm playing old video games on PS3:

FIFA 08, DIRT, Smackdown vs Raw 2008

I got a xmas gift which is a new game: Sports Champions (PS Move controller included)

I'm currently playing Madden 2006 on PC, so yeah, I'm old-fashioned video game player with a modern console :D lol

Been playing LittleBigPlanet 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal 2, Mortal Kombat and Persona 3 (all for the PS3/PS2) for the last two months. Right now focusing on LittleBigPlanet 2, because of its awesomeness but also TF2 since they are my two favorite games, especially TF2.

This my be off topic, but it is gamer related.

I was on PS3 voice chat with a friend, and he invited another guy on. The new guy claimed to be a hacker, and told us what our state and Internet providers were.

How did he get this info, and how do I prevent others from finding it?

It's nothing to worry about, he wasn't a hacker. Hackers don't use PSN to talk about their activities because everything is monitored.

As for the information he knew, it's very easy to find out someones internet provider and location. You can get small flash items for forum signatures which will scan who ever is looking at your signature and will create a custom signature for that person which will say something along the lines of

Your Internet Provider is ********
Your I.P is ***********
Downloading your porn folder

Of course it's not actually downloading anything from your computer it's just something to make people feel paranoid (who ever actually believes it)

I wish I knew... but thanks for providing me with another reason not to get a PS3 when I move, because I simply can't trust it.

You talk as if the PS3 is a living entity. If you want somewhere to place your mistrust try placing it on hackers who purposely attempt to break into networks and steal information. The PS3 plays games, it doesn't steal information.

I've been watching my roommate play LA Noire. Rockstar has never really done it for me, though Red Dead Redemption was pretty incredible.

Rockstar didn't make L.A Noir, Team Bondi did.

Not playing it (not my kinda game) but one of my collegues worked on it. It's quite nuts how much of it they've had to cut out due to legality issues. There was meant to be a rape investigation case involving a 10 year old girl which obviously got entirely snipped out from the game.

Most of the content cut was because of the Xbox360's limitations, it shipped on 3 discs for the 360 but was originally on 6 discs. Luckily for gamers however they are getting the cut content as DLC. Whereas the content cut from GrandTheftAutoIV and Final Fantasy XIII because of the Xbox360, will never see the light of day.

My most favorite PS2 game was probably Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

I was going to post something for you but apparently i don't have enough posts.
Go onto youtube and copy and paste this -
GTA IV San Andreas (San Andreas in GTA IV) [PC MOD]
It will show you a video someone has made of San Andreas recreated using GTAIV's RAGE engine.

All I gotta say is damn I wish my PC didn't suck so if they ever released San Andreas HD I would want to try it out. This will have to do until Rockstar decides to make GTA V in San Andreas.

Well all one needs is Google and your screen name, they type that information in. BOOM they will know where you live, JUB results do come up through Google and thus that's where they could easily find your location.

Besides I would only get afraid if they knew your log in credentials then I would get scared.

Also that shouldn't be a reason to NOT buy a PS3. If it is then you're only missing out on a good video game system.

PLaying the second Paper Mario in the Series now..these are games that never get old for me.

This is all i can tell you about GrandTheftAuto 5

It will release between May and November 2012

And that it may be set in France.

*yawn*

No, I talk about it's network being hacked and not being able to trust the people running it to divulge that information, nor do much about it in the aftermath, thereby preventing me from playing those games in the way I want to play them. I've not yet compared the PS3 to, say, a dog that bites its' master.

I feel safer with a Wii, despite not having picked up the controller in over a month.

Not getting a PS3 due to fear of hacking, is like not leaving your home for fear of getting mugged. If that's the case, get rid of your computer & iPhone. No network is 100% hackproof. Even the Pentagon got hacked. AFAIK, the PSN hackers didn't do anything with my info. My bank account & email has been untouched. Even if they got my info, it would do them no good- I didn't leave my personal & credit card info in the system, and my PSN password is different from my banking & email passwords. If you're careful, then you'll be OK.

That's all very cute - especially the quote.

But my (twins') XBox 360 hasn't been sent crashing down for almost a month(net-wise). If I get a next gen console, I want to play it on the net(which is one of the major reasons i'm about to get rid of my Wii - no one to play online with. The other major reason being I don't have many games I want to buy for it).

Maybe I should have stated that there are a plethora of reasons why I don't have much interest in owning a PS3, and that the hacking episode(as well as people not being told it was hacked until later) is pretty much a new layer of icing on an already iced cake, but I fear we'd be having this conversation about fear anyway.

But no matter. I'm going to play Monster Tale now. :)

France sounds boring, I am now disappointed and will probably not get GTA V.

Did anyone ever play side-scrolling platform games like 'Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure', 'Commander Keen', 'Jill of the Jungle' and 'Monster Bash'?

I played them almost religiously when I was really young. It's probably my earliest memory of video games... So much childhood nostalgia when I decided to play them today.
