I'm planning on going for at least some of the Games and would love to get together with other JUBbers there!

Opening ceremonies are Saturday, Aug. 9, at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.

I'm planning to volunteer for soccer Monday and Wednesday mornings, Aug. 11 and 13, in Akron.

Please post here or message me if you are going!

Can't attend at that time this year(too many other vacations scheduled around that time for me to get time off) but hope some Jubbers can attend and have a great time... Rick is a real nice guy and will be a fantastic host!

I am planning to attend some events, however, my brother, sister and I take care of my elderly father (age 94). One person used to be able to help him stand and transfer from the wheel chair to another seat, but the last several months it is taking two of us to lift him since he is no longer able to help us. That more or less means that if one person is gone the other two of us are chained to the house until the third person relieves one of us. I don't want to impose too much on my brother and sister and hiring a sitter can cost more than $100 a day. Although I will attend some events, it will be less than I had originally planned.

My chances of going are very poor, as I generally don't travel in the summer.

Thad do you think you might travel to another NY City event next weekend (probably Saturday for you)? See the thread for it here - it's a considerably less official event, but it would be great to see you.

Is this open for all or for JUB supporters only? Might come as I'll be at Ohio during that month to visit a friend B-)

Gay Games 9, in Cleveland and Akron, is international and open to all. Much of it is free. Some popular events charge admission.

The GayGames 10 are scheduled for Paris in 2018, so this may be the last one in North America for a few years.

I regret I'm not able to go to Ohio next month. I have some serious personal issues to deal with.

I'm sure you'll have a great time if you go!

Thad, I'm sorry to hear that you have serious personal issues. I'm also sorry to hear that you won't be able to attend the games.

Last year I thought that I would be able to attend several of the activities, but my elderly father requires much more attention the last eight months and I won't be able to attend anywhere near what I had hoped to, however, since I live in the Cleveland area, I expect that I will be able to get to something during that week.

Just a reminder to everyone that the Gay Games 9 are in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio from August 9th to the 16th, one month away. The activities are at scattered sites, but a large number of them are in and near downtown Cleveland and at Case Western Reserve University about five miles east of downtown. There is good public transportation between downtown and the Case Western Reserve area. Cleveland is a three to ten hour drive from Columbus, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Toronto, Chicago, New York, Washington DC and other cities. There is Cleveland Hopkins Airport, Greyhound Bus Lines, Amtrak, and other modes of travel to Cleveland, although Amtrak arrives and leaves inconveniently in the middle of the night. Hope many of you are able to attend the games.

Don't forget that the Gay Games start this Saturday, 8/9/14, in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio.
