I've got season tickets to a contact sport, own several jerseys for my favorite team, and have actually traveled to another state to watch them play. Does that count?

I love kayaking, hiking, yoga, running, and climbing, if that counts. I hate sports with complicated rules, though, and I never watch sports, which I think is boring beyond belief. I know that plenty of gay guys are into that whole scene, though.

Not to get academic, but I think a lot of the apathy towards sports, and this is true for me, comes from the way that gay men were denigrated in the sports we played in high school. I used to love to play football on my Jr high team, but the homophobia I heard - and was part of - in high school, kinda ruined it for me.

i've always wondered why they don't give all the boys a ball instead of all of them fighting over just one.

I have no problem playing sports but not into the whole watching the sports and keeping up with sports teams.

I remember in high school, on the tennis team some guys would try to act overtly feminine to each other and/or accuse guys of having done stuff to one another. But I assume it's probably no different on other teams. I don't see how this can in any way boost team morale.

I love sports. I played two varsity sports, soccer and lacrosse, in HS, and I've been playing as many IM sports in college as I can. I play fantasy baseball and football, and love it. I've been told I'm like a dog, because I enjoy any activity that involves a ball (this was before people knew I was gay and liked things with two balls as well).

Just because certain people don't fit gay stereotypes doesn't mean they are not gay. That isn't to say your friend is definitely gay, but it isn't an impossibility.

I'm on my school's track team and I'm one of the fastest guys on the team in several events. I like tennis, soccer, boxing and swimming, but I could never get into basketball, football, and baseball... I know straight guys who don't like sports.

I played everything growing up, basketball, soccer, baseball, was on the basketball tam in HS, was a competitive swimmer, also play racquetall. you name it. Most gay guy I have met are not into sports and if they are not to the level I am . Still follow relentlessly college football and college hoops. Prefer to play over watching but going to a game is always fun. And forgot, also played hockey.

Best response.

^^ It would be pretty cool if some massive star in a global sport came out though, wouldn't it?

I don't play sports much but I love to watch certain ones and pull for my favorite teams...I also know some straight guys who could care less about sports.

I love sports, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears all the way for me. I love watching games, going to games, going to a bar to watch a game with the str8 mates. I do know gay men that hate sports and I do know straight men that hate sports as well. I played baseball and wrestled in high school and absolutely love the sports and being able to participate in them. Yeah I heard a lot of homophobia but I wasnt there to concentrate on picking up guys, I was there to be part of a team and to help them win. I do admit some of the guys I played sports with in high school were fucking hot though and it was hard not to look in the showers.

My partner is a total jock. We have season tickets (thanks to him) for the baseball games. He excelled in track, wrestling, and was captain of his football and baseball teams. He was also a pitcher in college and was scouted by a professional team--until he screwed up his pitching arm. He knows the players, the politics, game rules and strategy. It's interesting watching these sports with him because he can explain them so well (otherwise, I'd find most of them deadly).

So, yes, gay guys into sports definitely exist!

I loved baseball as a lad and knew the stats of like every player, but I kinda fell out of that. My father had zero interest in sports and neither does my stepdad, so it was never big in my house. I never got in the habbit of watching football or hockey or any of that because my family didn't i think.

But I loved playing baseball and soccer and track in middle school, but after jv soccer I stopped doing anything cause I hated the coach and started hating high school !oops!
