Gay Mccain supporters (the straight ones too)

Unfortunately you are forgetting the all important hypocrisy of so many voters, pundits, preachers and politicians.

That Parsley guy does look like a spectacular cunt though;

The standard response (not my own) you'll get to this question is:

Gay rights is not the only issue I vote for.

I'll vote Republican for better national security
:rotflmao:

I'll vote Republican for smaller Government
:rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I'll vote Republican for better economic policy
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

I have some respect for people whose opinions differ. But my gosh, how can you vote for a party that uses your sexuality to gain bigot's votes... fuck what the party thinks about taxes when your sexuality (lifestyle) is ridiculed.

I truly can't respect someone fully that is gay and Republican.

They're either idiots, self haters or both.

Wow I love how (most) liberals stand on podium on how conservatives (republicans) are evil for being close-minded and things. When they are judging conservatives, be littling their beliefs.

I will say this, I consider myself a social liberal, use to think I was extremely liberal but now Im appalled by liberal media (pretty much all stations) and liberal ppl who according to them are the moral ones. I watch CNN and Fox News, and Im sorry to say but FOx News tends to be more equal, than the so called fair CNN.

I vote on the person; the vibe they give me, the way they have lived their lifes, what they have done. Then I look at the issues. I was a hard campaigner for Hillary Clinton, and I truly believed she would of taken this country and put us back on the right road.

Now I will vote for McCain, I dont agree on all his issues, but he is open minded. I believe Obama is stubborn, he is liberal but not as liberal as his liberal supporters think he is. McCain says that states should decide same sex marriages, but he is anti an national ammendment banning same sex marriage. Ppl saying he will be more years of Bush policy, get a new argument point and do ur research on what McCain actually has done. Everyone has changed during the campaign, Obama turned less liberal, and McCain more conservative.

Fully agreed.

The thing I don't get is when they say they'll still vote republican for other reasons... what other reasons? The government seems to expand under Republican rule (which is ironic seeing as republicans are anti-large governments), the economy has taken a HUGE fall under republican rule... If you aren't voting republican for their stances on social issues, what the hell reason is there left to vote republican for?

Hey there duuuude. What happened to you? Long time no see.

Guys I don't wanna harass the mods with the post-report button so PLEASE remember to give Mccain supporters a chance to tell their side of the story. I don't think anyone just wakes up and decides to support Mccain, there's a reason and we could hear it if we could spare some of the ridicule.

Sadly, I don't think that's possible on these boards. I'm 100% behind McCain/Palin . I'm 100% gay. I'm 100% sure that the fags on this board won't give me a chance to voice my views without throwing me under the bus. Been there/done that. 'Nuff said.

Had to take some time to sort out my life. :O I Finally, fully quit all the drugs and smoking I used to do. ^_^ I even drink less now. :p

I was in a bad shape before, but now that I'm all better I decided to visit all the old forums I used to go to. =D

And sigh @ voyager: If (*prays to god it doesn't happen*) Mccain wins that's just one more member I'll get to say "I told you so" to when he fucks up the country even worse.

I really do find it delicously ironic when the republicans keep spouting out they need change.... while it's their party that are currently occupying the executive. xD If you want a real change vote Dem. :)

So far from what I've seen it's generally the gays who don't really care enough to bother with politics at all that vote Republican. I'm sure if they became at least semi-informed they'd most liekly change their point of view when it comes to party politics. :p

Not only are there gay Republicans there are also gay Christians and Jews, and we all know that the God of the Old Testament explicitly condemned homosexuality. Is there is no end of the hypocrisy?

first, a lot of people, including gay people, don't know all these micro ideas of some republicans, and then link them to mccain essentially. so, in a sense some people just don't know, and there are gay people out there that just believe in the republican platform of lower taxes, less government in general. those said gay people maybe not believe that what you clearly linked will ever surface if mccain is president. i thought about voting republican because of tax reasons, but then i just don't like his other ideas (mainly iraq war/sarah palin (LOL)). I really honestly could care less what mccain thinks about gay people because he's the last person i have to worry about caring about gays or not. it's my next door neighbor that might hate gays is the real person i should be worried about...

"Only 1 percent of the homosexual population in America will die of old age. The average life expectancy for a homosexual in the United States of America is 43 years of age. A lesbian can only expect to live to be 45 years of age. Homosexuals represent 2 percent of the population, yet today they're carrying 60 percent of the known cases of syphilis."

For the first time in my life (65) I am above average.

marleyisalegend. Your first post is so long. I'm trying to listen to these chatters about the debate. Will answer more in the am when I have time to read all.

Okay, forget the social issues (although I am personally not able to vote for a Party that hates my very existence), please give me the reasons you would vote for a Republican president based on the last 8 years of Republican rule. We are in two wars costing billions of dollar a month, our economy is in shambles, we have the largest trade deficit in history, our national debt is out of control, our government is bigger and spends more now than ever in history, we are more disrespected worldwide than ever in our history, energy costs are out of control...... I could go on and on. Please tell me, Republicans, how you can be proud of that record and could even possibly consider 4 more years of the same? The Republican vice-president pick is a national joke and would scare me to death if she had to take over the presidency. Please, please, tell me, Republicans, in specific, not general, terms how McCain would be different. If you can't be specific, then don't reply.

I'm not a McCain guy, but I know several gay McCain supporters. Some were Bush supporters as well.

Why do they support the GOP, a party that demonizes homosexuals? Because they feel (in essence) that social change is effected from the bottom up, not the top down. Politicians can't make people like gays - they have to wait until enough people like them, and then reflect that publicly. They look at the demonizing of homosexuals as simply a ploy to get votes - the same way there are people who vote Democratic who are anti-union. They know that the Democratic candidate has to pander to the big unions in order to get that huge chunk of votes, the same way the GOP has to pander to the religious right to get THAT huge chunk of votes. They don't take that stuff seriously. They either feel a gay marriage ban will either fall by the wayside (more important things to deal with), be struck down as unconstitutional (which it appears to be doing in many states anyway), or, in fact, they might actually agree with the premise.

If you truly believe Fox News to be a 'Fair and Balanced' news source then you really need to widen your media exposure and open your eyes and ears a bit. A quick google or youtube search will show you so many examples of just how even-handed Fox News can be.

I vote on the person; the vibe they give me, the way they have lived their lifes, what they have done.
Wasn't that the reason given by so many Bush voters - he seemed like a nice, down-to-earth guy? You are voting for the President of your country not President of your bowling league.

Then I look at the issues. I was a hard campaigner for Hillary Clinton, and I truly believed she would of taken this country and put us back on the right road.
That argument is so bizarre to me. You can't have Hillary, so rather than vote for someone from the same side, with a similar agenda to Hillary you will vote for a continuation of the Republican incompetence which your support of Hillary shows you so clearly oppose. Does that mean if your car breaks down but your favored mechanic has closed down, rather than go to the next-door mechanic (the one who's popularity has put your preferred mechanic out of business) you will instead take your car to the scrap yard to be crushed into a cube?

Now I will vote for McCain, I dont agree on all his issues, but he is open minded. I believe Obama is stubborn, he is liberal but not as liberal as his liberal supporters think he is. Now I'm really confused. You consider yourself to be a social liberal but because Obama is not as liberal as liberals think he is you will vote for someone who has become MORE conservative.](*,)

Glad you're doing better.

It's a disease with gay Republicans. And part of it is self hatred. There are those gay men that marry and have kids that have sex with men on the side and vote Republican.

They're just as bad as the out gay men voting Republican.

In the name of Hillary Swank's tits, Obama supporters. Democrats. SHUT THE FUCK UP! This is the last time I'm going to say this because I'm sick to death of your smugness and elitism. (The same things you blast Mccain for). Please spare me, the Mods, and gay republicans you're whiny ass dramatics and I'm-better-than-you's.

You are NOT a fucking God just because you vote democrat/Obama.

This thread was made in attempt to understand gay republicans, especially gay Mccain supporters because Mccain is sometimes to the left of his own party. ("Maverick" is an exaggeration but not an inaccurate one). Frankly you ought to be ashamed of yourselves, the person you're blasting does a better job reaching across party lines than you do. I'll give Mccain credit for not folding his arms and sticking his nose up in front of democrats which is more than can be said for most of you on this site.

Do I need to say it one more time for good measure? Shut the fuck up! Let gay republicans speak. If possible, do so without calling them out before they even get to post their answer. Your democratic high-and-mightyness is scaring them off further into the arms of your supposed enemy.

Please and thankyou.

*As for all the sidebar chats, please respect the On-Topic designation.

The only thing that's to be understood is how a gay Republican can be so uninformed, as that's the only type of gay man, hell pretty much the only type of AMERICAN (who isn't in the top 1% income or a religious freak) at this point who would vote Republican. Sad to see so much of america IS still that uninformed.

I don't condemn McCain because he's smug or elitist, I condemn him because his policies are looking like shit and set to keep the country running into the gutter.
