Gay Men, Comic Books, and Geeking Out

Love the new Spider-Man costume. I never liked Maguire's.

But that has got to be the worst Superboy ever...

Agree with you Kiros. Superboy should be a mega stud, not a HSM twink.

Five years ago, I impulsively threw out SIX boxes of comic books that I had been collecting since I was a kid. Over 1000 comics all wrapped in plastic sleeves. I had stopped collecting about ten years ago, and spent years trying to sell them. But no comic shops wanted to buy anything I had. This was years before I got a computer, and had never had experience with E-bay. I could just kick myself these days just thinking about it. ](*,)](*,)](*,)#-o#-o

^I bet you are, I would never just get of comics especially that amount. Do you remember what they were?

And is it just me or are Ryu and Wolverine looking all buddy-buddy in Mikami's pic?

I had comics from 1975 on thru the late 1990's. Many different titles. I carted them around with me whenever I moved, and got sick of seeing them sitting in a corner, always just taking up room. My favorites were the original X-men books, (before Marvel got greedy and put out 6 different comic book versions of them) and Daredevil. I even had Wolverine #1 and 2! I even had the ORIGINAL Ghost Rider, #1, #2, and #4. Not Johnny Blaze, but the G.R. from the 50's...A western guy on a horse. I could just scream these days thinking of it! But...I went to 3 different comic shops in the area and no one at the time (late 90's) wanted them because EVERYONE was selling their old comics at the time. Now......I could have gotten good $$$ for them, by using the internet. LOL...oh well. :)

I did this also. I condensed to 6 short boxes. I got rid of my full Teen Titan collection. The ones with Nightwing, Starfire, Wonder Girl, Beast Boy, etc. Then I discovered ebay and bought them all back plus some and many duplicates. Then I got rid of my new Titan collection with Superboy, Wonder Girl, Robin, etc. Then I bought all the trades for them. I did get rid of Spider-Woman 1-50 plus her first appearances. Comics just smell after a while. I got rid of a lot. I kept my Wonder Woman collection. That is two or so short boxes.

details on Perry Moore in my article - early rumor is Oxycontin OD (he'd been putting off back and leg surgery to keep working - likely over medicating - don't mess around with that shit).

What is the story on that X-Men anime teaser?

in other news... you guys hear that Jack of Hearts is back in Avengers: The Children's Crusade #5 of 9?

I was aware of the wolverine anime but not a whole X-men one. Effin' sweet, thanks Gomaki. That Scott looks hot, lol. Any more info on the anime?

Cheers for posting that. I haven't seen that before. Looks fantastic! Where are all the X-woman though! Sure Storm is in it (love the Ultimate Storm look) but what about Jean, Rogue and good ol Emma!

I also love that it seems to be focusing on Cyclops which is good. He deserves alot more attention. Also he's hot.

btw, yeah I did see that Jack of Hearts is coming back. Young Avengers just keeps getting better! I love how Heinberg isn't just going for comic book cliches of big battles and things, he's really shaking things up and telling a great story.

I hope he doesn't add many more characters though, it's time to really get into the meat of the story.

Tonight's episode of V was interesting. Although seeing Logan in his boxers was a definite plus. And I'm really starting to dislike An(n?)a. And things on No ordinary family are also picking up. I cannot wait to see how both shows play out.

I liked V last night too. I didn't like Logan's haircut. Gramma Diana sure seemed happy to have the communication sphere. Wanna bet it will allow her to talk to more than Lisa?

I tried to get into No Ordinary Family, but lost interest after a few episodes. Just didn't grab me and make me care.

Some gay geek news... In case you didn't know, last September the Archie Comics Group introduced a gay character to Riverdale High. His name is Kevin Keller. He was very well received and is getting a 4 issue miniseries this summer. HnH Article

Ehh I don't care for the haircut either but his body was a major plus. And I agree Gramma is most definitely going to use it to talk to more people than Lisa.

And that's great news about Kevin. We Americans may just have hope yet.

I had to stop watching V since the stupid producers decided that "if we do not put the episodes on-line, more people will watch it when it's on!". My retail job keeps me missing about every fourth or fifth episode. So, I had to work Tues nite three weeks ago, and since I knew I would be missing another episode in two weeks time, I just decided to stop watching. Oh well. (I tried finding episodes on line, but none of them are "legal" sites...;) So I won't chance it...they are "virus city" usually)

But No Ordinary Family...which I can catch online, is really good! I felt so bad for Joshua, a bad guy trying to go good. As you saw at the end, the serum DID work, and he lost his powers. But, the show is in it's second season, and is in the BOTTOM 50 shows on t.v. right now. So, this season is probably the last. Who here thinks that the daughters boyfriend is going to get/be given powers eventually? I do. :)
