I can relate. I am what I call a butch nerd.
Although I have an stark aversion to the gym, I am athletic and enjoy playing and watching most sports (I just see no point in working out...it seems very boring). I drive a truck, although I am not handy with anything other than a computer or a pen. I know how to hunt and fish, although I find neither enjoyable. I like my men like I like my beers: thick and full of flavor (and fine whiskeys...can't forget those). I'm a 20-year D&D vet and love fantasy literature. I know more about Ancient Egyptian religion than I do Christianity. Oh, did I mention that I'm from the south, black and obviously going to hell for all my heretical activities, viewpoints and interests?
Overall, I'm rather masculine and like masculine dudes. But why does any of this matter? While I can honestly say that I'm generally not drawn to feminine guys, I can also say that I'm 100% positive there are exceptions out there who would challenge my general patterns. There is at least one exception to every rule.
One thing I don't get is why is it
seemingly assumed (even among some of us) that the more masculine dudes are tops? While I happen to be one and very rarely bottom...I know several dudes who are pure bottoms who make me look like Little Mary Sunshine. Conversely, there must be some fems out there who are pure tops...I don't know any, but the Law of Averages pretty much mandates that they exist.
