How the hell can you confuse inbreeding with weaker genetics? You must be reading a lot of books on dogs because in some lines of dogs the genetic pool is shrinking, such as the German Shepard. Commonly it is assumed a mutt is more vigorous then a pure bred, but that's because there is a lot of inbreeding in pure breed dogs.
