Oh I know it. It can be a problem state side as well. You know, the whole 'metrosexual' crap.
 
There used to be a website called "gay or eurotrash". I guess that word's politisch incorrecto now.

It's stereotyping, but I had the same problem when I was in China for study abroad. I thought ALL of the European guys were gay. I don't think any of them actually were. But going to school in small town USA doesn't exactly put me in contact with a lot of guys who dare to love fashion - unless they are gay.
 
Is it really fashion or is something else going on? There's just a certain -- look, that I associate with Europeans. Svelte, feline, kind of over-intense in the eyes. Americans look more like dumb clods, even the gay ones.

I know, I know, it's just stereotypes -- and I only got 40% on the test -- but still.
 
Had the same beef in Italy a few weeks back - amazing guys - metrosexual - giving off all the normally accredited vibes - BANG! Along come's their missus, i return to my seat diffused and confused - damn Europeans!
 
I was recently in England and France and I swear there were NO gay people there at all. My gaydar picked up nothing. Obviously it's a cultural thing but I wonder if I came across as gay there as I do here (U.S.)..

I'm Italian and so it makes me european, I've lived in both side of the Atlantic and I agree with what you've just said.
Maybe here in Europe men, straight and gay, tend to dress better and care more about their looks.

I have no gaydar and if you also give me the options 'both' and 'neither', I'm completely lost. I ended up with a score of a measly 17%.

As a European, let me explain using the following example:

This guy is NOT gay. He's metrosexual. One of the many guys who walk around styled up like that here. There are things you need to keep in mind: this type of human is mostly an immigrant or 2nd generation from a East-European country with poor education, ending up selling mobiles or cars. They can be usually found in House and Dance clubs, and don't dare to call them gay or they start a fight. If you know the term "Guido", they are the european equivalent of that.

Unfortunately, these guys are trying to catch the attention so hard and constantly walk around like that in the cities, that you would think all Europeans are like that. If you do so, you met the wrong people.
 
European guys seem to be so much more physical with each other, too. I remember when I went to Rome I was amazed to see so many guys strolling around arm in arm. We wouldn't dream of doing that here!
