haha....that sounds kind of funny...

Just for fun, who are the most politically and/or financially powerful GLBT people. It might be helpful to put openly or closeted next to their name. Try and limit one person per post. Thanks.

lets see how long our list can get. I will start with an easy one:

David Geffen (open) DreamWorks, Geffen Records

Former Prime Minister The Honourable Pierre Elliott Trudeau

(Runner up: Former Prime Minister The Honourable Jean Chrétien.)

(Because of the work of these two men, gay people in Canada are no-longer 'Second-class Citizens'.

Ivan Massow (openly). He set up an insurance company in the UK which was the first company to offer life insurance to gay men (HIV positive or not) without the usual intrusive lifestyle questionnaire. He then went on to set up a dating/social networking website for gay professionals. Needless to say he has made a lot of money (especially after the sale of his insurance and finance companies) and is highly respected within the UK gay community as well as the financial services industry.

There are many, of course. Jann Wenner certainly has a high profile and lots of publishing clout because of Rolling Stone and his other holdings.

GDSX PET wasn't gay I know I threw a pass at the 78-79 convention when I was a shy and bashfull youth. Can't really comment on Johnny boy though, I voted for him at convention but would ever have though about anything else.

I don't know how I misread that. I thought it was about political figures who had an impact on the gay community, and Trudeau and Chrétien certainly had an impact.

Fred Hochberg

Was the highest-ranking openly gay person ever to serve in a US federal government position requiring confirmation by the United States Senate. Former head of the U.S. Small Business Administration and co-chairperson of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian and gay civil rights group. Hochberg, led the transformation of the Lillian Vernon Corporation from a small family mail order company into a publicly traded direct marketing corporation, one of the great success stories of American entrepreneurship.

Michael Kors: Project Runway and major fashion designer (open).

He has no role in politics, but he is influential non-the-less.

Tim Gunn is obviously another power gay, but I'm sticking to the 1 pic per post rule.
