Gay Republican elected lawmaker from Pennsylvania comes out

groundhog day - not just a movie

LA Confidential on .......... what a flick - lots of testosterone flying :)

don't be such a hater TX - reserve the hate for the real deal

You really don't want to see me hating on something - it gets really ugly and personal and gets my posts vanished, this is just me scoffing at credulity and sipping my Jamaica Blue Mountain.

I am openly gay in a state that just approved gay marriage by popular vote.

We did not get there by denigration.

Would but TX or other states do the same.

TX's openly gay legislators total ____?

Your derision of progress is not productive.

So the way to get progress and open minds is to lie about your sexuality until you've achieved a position of power or trust?

I'll be more blunt. Your operating definition of progress is junk. Progress is when a Republican ninja-comes out after getting office (and just hopes he can keep his seat)? How is that progress?

It's not addressing the core problem of politicized homophobia on the right. And few of these gay Republicans seem willing to rock the boat much other than a discreet statement here or there.

"...I know you are but what am I..."

Are you in the fourth grade?

Not so up here in the enlightened Northeast.

You've accused us of "deriding progress."

Explain to me how stealth-outing after election is progress. It doesn't even friggin show me that conservatives would have ever been willing to vote for the guy.

There's no progress to be seen here other than this guy's own personal next step which is irrelevant to anything for anyone else. Except that he's very likely to get booted out next election.

I love how in your mind getting gay marriage passed on a state ballot is equivalent progress to some coward who comes out just after an election as a gay conservative Christian Republican.

if he is we need more fourth graders on the forum

as they're far more enlightened, reasonable and reasoned than .......

well u know

How the hell can you be a conservative Christian and openly gay?

Does he hate himself that much?

The Bible is pretty clear on this. You can't pick and choose.

Btw if a black person joins the KKK, is it progress?

I want to know so that if it ever happens I can be sure I'm not attacking progress.

Northeast -- or any where else for that matter. And it is about that.

Pal - thanks for showing that not all are wired for hateful nonsense here

it's good to know

Do you mean the old testament which also says all the straight people who eat lobster are going to hell too?

There's no reason to celebrate in this thread:

1. A gay man spends his whole life in the closet because of the homophobic Republicans around him raised him to be.
2. He marries a woman that he later has to divorce when he realizes he can't live a lie anymore.
3. He was ONLY elected as a state representative for the GOP ticket with the assumption that he's straight. Mike Fleck would have never been elected as a Republican state representative in rural Pennsylvania had he been an open homosexual.
4. He still believes in the Republican party with a platform that publicly states that he is a second-class citizen incapable of marrying a man or be protected equally under the law. So he can have a farce marriage with a woman, but can only fuck men behind closed doors.

Nothing to celebrate here.

Love how these threads go up with these pathetic (in the literal sense of the word) closetcases trying to cope with being gay in the tide of conservative America and the GOP supporters tell us this is their vision of "progress." Not any sort of fundamental change in the bigoted mindset that underlines the whole political right.

No, it's about a closeted republican who came out, and the circumstances around that. You were asked a question and you deflected it with this northeast comment.

I was asked if I were in the 4th grade. Now at your request I answer that ad hominem:

No. My state had grades higher than that.

He says he is a conservative Christian and still plans to stick with the Republican party because he believes in smaller government.

Why would anyone in favor of smaller government vote Republican?

I asked you that question because you were spinning like a dervish - that's NOT the question xbuzzerx asked you. Why don't you try answering that one.

Why would anyone in favor of smaller government vote Republican?

Because they also believe that Greek gods gave us fire and Jesus fought the dinobots and Harry Potter used magic to make carbon dating look real.

And that Republicans stand for responsible fiscal spending, low deficits and small government. :rotflmao:
