I just enjoy the sauna is more important than sex. Some people just go there for sex, they will be very disappointed.

If you're not looking for sex, a gay sauna is not the right sauna. Other places are better for that. I visit those too, but gay saunas as well. The one thing all young straight guys envy is how easy it is for us to get laid.

I don't want to sound mean, but 30 is a bit old to go to a gay sauna for the first time. You should have started ten years earlier. It's not the kind of place where you will be very succesful after you turn 40 either. You are naked there so your body is all you have to work with. No clothing to camouflage your weaknesses. But that is exactly why I love it: what you see is what you get.

In the late gay 1980's hey-day years, there was one highly-popular west coast...USA... sauna in particular that catered exclusively to the younger collegiate, younger adult crowd (no one over 35 allowed....strictly enforced by requiring prospective members to be referred/sponsored by a full time member in good standing). Athletes, bodybuilders, porn stars and similar celebrity types mingled freely with the ordinary/usual guy on the street. Friday nights, usually, was the busiest. After checking in, the only dress...if one chose to cover their nakedness...might be a plain, white towel tied around the bare waist or, for those preferring something less formal, a simple jock strap, thong or, in many cases, nothing. Nothing was by far the most common. There was something for everyone....glory holes, private cubicles, seemingly endless mazes, a small half-moon style mini-amphitheater and upstairs a large unfurnished room for certain celebratory events. There were two lounges complete with closed circuit TV too; but with so much very real action occurring almost everywhere....even in the open hallways....no one was particularly interested in viewing some old worn out X-rated movie; so the lounges mostly went begging. From those posts seen here I suspect many of todays sauna's might be a far cry from this gay hot spot of yesteryear. Maybe not. I haven't been to one lately.

Sorry, but 39 for your first time means you missed your twenty best years. I know several saunas where the maximum age is 40 during the week and 25 on Sundays.
