I have read this same theory, and at least in my case, is a very viable explanation.

Would be curious to hear if others have heard this theory and if it was a possible explanation of their own sexual preference.
 
I am the only gay one. I am the oldest of three brothers. As a matter of fact, as far as I can tell, I am the ONLY one in the entire extended (cousins, uncles, aunts) family who is gay.
 
I don't have Any other gay siblings.. but My Uncle that I was named after was gay and died from AIDS about 2 months after I was born.. Strangely enough, I ended up being gay like my uncle who i was named after.. I always that that was a weird coincidence..
 
I had a good friend from the military. He was basically the only straight person in his family, besides his parents; His brother, sister, and cousins are all gay. Pretty sure he had a gay uncle too.
 
I have several gay friends who have gay siblings. It's far from unusual.
