Gay Stories Forum...WTF, explanation plz

Can somebody explain to me the appeal of the Gay Stories Forum? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it if that's your thing. There is always a large number of viewers. The stories are obviously fake, yet people respond with congratulatory comments. Do they seriously think they are real stories, or is that part of the game (to respond with fake replies)? Do they whack it while they read them? Seriously though, I am 48 and NOTHING remotely close to anything I've read there has happened in real life. The most that has happened is that a hot twink has merely looked in my direction!

I guess it's like pro wrestling. The "fights" are obviously fake but people enjoy them and they convince themselves that they are real.

Perhaps I am missing out on this fetish and I should take it up.

I hope that I didn't kill anybody's fantasy.

Anything other than a piece of fiction is likely to end up being moved to another board so please do not post 'true life confessions', requests or links to other sites on this board.

The above quote is from the posting quidelines at the top of the forum. As you will notice only works of fiction are to be posted there. No one claims that the stories are real. Some of the continuing ones have become like real characters for a good many members and they check often to see how the characters are doing.

I guess you could compare it to the written version of a TV series, only with a gay theme.

As one of the authors in the forum, I invite you back to it, with an open mind, of course. Read a few of the stories, keeping in mind that they are fiction and fantasy, and maybe you will change your mind.

If not, that is why there is a variety of forums on the board.

I read the Stories forum to read the stories. I agree that nothing remotely similar has even happened in my life. I treat them as 'stories' ...fiction. I judge them according to how well (or not) they are written and how they affect me as I read them. I'm curious about the imaginations and writing skills of the authors. That's all.

It is doubtful that they believe the stories to be real. Then again, not much on television, in movies, or in books is real, either. Why do they respond with comments? Because the like what they have read and want to encourage the authors to write more.

I have to defend Neil on this one. Some of the stories are nothing more than porn. Then again some are gay themed with very heartwrenhing storylines and yes, with an imagination, they can be a great release from everyday life.
Maybe you came to the forum with false expectations. If you spend any time actually reading some of the long running stories, you will see they transpose you to a different place that is both enjoyable and yes, at times erotic. I see no difference with this forum than television series or even soap operas, except that soap operas are even more unrealistic than most of the stories here.

If you look carefully, there are some actual events here with no names changed or anything! And they are still gay stories! So this forum is where they belong!

I don't visit that forum very often but will scan the listings occasionally and read one that's sounds good. I can't read very many, though, without getting tired of them really fast, but many enjoy reading them. In my opinion, some go on waaaay too long with chapter after chapter after chapter. Good writing makes all the difference.

Well, maybe I have an interesting life...but I have definitely have had similar things happen that are in the stories...
playing with a straight guy,
sex with a room service guy,
meeting a stranger in a steamroom,
sex with a roommate,
.......

i love the stories area! .... but in regards to the resposes; sometimes it just a complement on creativity and writing skills.
Fantasy is the greatest sex toy we have.

1st Love Ron, I believe the explanation is a bit incredible, but far from what simple little Drew has imagined.

If you'll read back through all of the post in the religion forum, you'll eventually find that Gay Zerna had a premonition that Newboy12 would come to JUB at some date in the not-too-distant future.

JD and Seth agreed to add a forum to try to keep him from taking over the Hot Topics forum.

In my opinion, some go on waaaay too long with chapter after chapter after chapter.

I am guiltly of writing long stories which go on 'chapter after chapter after chapter'. When I began my three most popular stories, I never intended them to go on more than a few chapters and should have ended ages ago, but it is the fans who keep me writing them. If I had intended them to run on as long as they have done, I would never have started writing three of them at a time.

Two of them are simply porn, but each chapter is new enough and different enough that people want to read more. One of them, in fact, began with an exhibitionistic whack-off session which was never seen. Everything was hidden under the table and the readers never once knew exactly what was going on there until the very end of the story. The whole thing took place from the waist up and it was the readers' imaginations which filled in all the necessary bits.

My most popular story, though, is completely different. It began as a simple one-handed story back in early may and will celebrate something of a milestone with the posting of Chapter 100 tomorrow morning. It has become a love story which is running in 'real time'. With over 600 readers every day, it would be an injustice to my fans to end it. It has become very real to them. As long as people keep reading it, I will continue to write it.

There is a lot of talent at JUB, and I must give a special thanks to Autolycus for moderating it as he does. He reads every story there and does so much to keep everything running smoothly for all the visitors to the forum.

People visit that forum because they like to read, and writers contribute their stories because they like to write. There are a lot of people who are extremely happy that the forum is there.
