IonicTransport, I have official documentation of all my ancestors from governments, state historical socities and religous records, and call me a fluffy bunny wiccan, if you want, but you're wrong i am not wiccan - i am christian. I desend from a family of Witches, but I follow the Christian religon.

And Luminox, sounds scary, but very far fetched. There are alot of holes in your story and demons dont attack within in dreams, they're a bit more clever than that. I think you just really psyched yourself out. And magick doesn't just randomly happen, magick is a part of you (if you are a witch). Whether in the Phsyical form or spirutal.

Hi ladygrey-

Back in February, you said:

The Craft is a construct to worship, heal, affirm, and connect to the Divine source in all its form and to link to the Self. It is both a process of external forces and internal one, drawing all elments of the personal and the public togther. It is more than rituals and words, becoming a bridge or a vessel to explore our own nature.

Through many different tradtions, we follow the path of self understanding and truth through the mystic layers of all life.

In other words, it is an infinate medium for expressing the Divine and human spirit.

And it's really about change and transformation.

So, I'm thinking to myself: how is this different from any other spiritual path? And why is it referred to as pagan in a derisive manner? I consider myself a Christian, but find this to be very similar---just dressed in a different costume, I suppose.
And all belief systems have a light side and a dark side.

If this Divine Source is really beyond human words, then there must be different manners in which to express and experience it.

Thanks for your comments!

Oh I'm not implying that the Craft is different or better than any other faith. I agree that it is simalar in intent to other faiths.

BUT!

There are some things that make the Craft special.

Number one: There is much less dogma and religous control, thus we are able to have personal experinces that we ourselves validate, rather then trying to fit our experinces into the rigid framework of Orthodox religon.

Number two: We create our own pratice and belief systems. Yes, there is a core faith, but it is so broad that we are able to shape a faith which flows in many different structures and is indvidual.

Number three: I get to actively particpate in my faith. I'm not listening to someone talk about it, I'm not reading some book about it, or I'm not sitting with a group of people being told about it. Instead, I'm expericing it. The only way to grow as a Wiccan or as a majick user is to experince. What works for me won't work for you. We HAVE live our faiths, otherwise we can't practice magical arts.

Number four: My faith does not equal political views or social stances. I'm not bogged down by dogma that judges, shames, or limits my experince.

Number five: No right or wrong. No moral rule book to control me, nor any direct moral guidance save "harm none". So I'm free to live without guilt or doubt or even control. I literaly take full responblity for my life. I can't save at the end of it, "well, I was a good person". No sir bob, I have make my own expectations for life and living.

At the end of the day, the Craft differs because it really requires an personal investment that, ultimently, completely rest on your shoulders. No one is going to figure it out for you, thus you need to actively explore life and meaning.

It's a solidtary path, unlike most religons we have in the world today.

... and demons dont attack within in dreams, they're a bit more clever than that.

Not in dreams, but they can creep up on you while you're asleep and stick your hand in water so you piss yourself.

LOL

(Actually, I don't believe in "demons" per the Xian sense, though I do know of evil magicians and powerful novices who have forges such nuissances into existence. Also, it's mainly Elemental spirits who would tend to pull camping-trip pranks, but they're easily swatted away with a banishing Earth pentagram or a toss of kosher salt.)

Right on, ladygrey-

Any spiritual quest requires the inner work of the individual. When a belief system becomes too dogmatic, it suffocates the possibility of the individual experience and marginalizes those who pursue the solitary path.

My perspective is mainly Christian since that is how I was raised and I've also spent quite some time integrating my spirituality with my sexuality. Since I've adopted Christ as my avatar (with full knowledge that there are others!), I constantly remind myself that when he had the real deep work to do and needed to summon the force(s) beyond him, he went away....alone (to the desert).
