So I don't seem to have any gaydar at all. Sure, if a guy wears make-up, or leather pants in the middle of summer, then yes I can tell. But they would have to be flaming 'till they melt in order to look gay to me. And I'm not at all interested in these guys.
Otherwise, for the life of me, I can't tell if a guy is gay. And I myself am very straight-acting. This really sucks in terms of meeting people in everyday situations (and I'm speaking in the context of meeting people for dating and relationships, not hookups). I met both of my ex-boyfriends online because of this, but it'd be nice to meet people in person once in a while, since there's a better chance we'd have some common interests that way.
So how exactly do you tell? I know people who claim they have virtually never been wrong. And they say they just know. But how?
Is it in the looks? The hairstyle? The way he dresses? The way he walks and speaks? Or do gay guys really just emit some aura that's somehow transparent to me?
A few days ago, there was a thread about bookstores being a common hangout for gay guys. And I was like, ???... I believe it because I myself hang out in bookstores all the time, but I can never tell who they are... and I know they're out there, being in San Francisco =)
